Hey I was sleeved on May 29th. I am having trouble eating and drinking enough. I am so worried about Protein, but I'm getting better everyday. It just seems I haven't loss much. I lost 20lbs and have been stuck here for a week. It seems since I only consume about 12oz of food a day I would lose weight purely based on that. It is very depressing. I can't eat... and I'm still fat. Can someone pls Help....!

look up the 3 week stall. Almost every one of us goes through it. Trust me, you're not done losing weight! :)

First of all, remember that this battle is a mental journey as well. I think we ALL go through these periods where we feel we aren't losing weight and get depressed. I recommend getting rid of your scale and using clothes as a guide for weightloss instead of focusing on numbers. (not a popular suggestion, FYI) Numbers can be MEAN! I worried for the first few months that I wasn't doing things right. Sounds like you are doing what you can. As long as you are following doctor's orders I'm sure you will be getting what your body needs. I think we all need to keep our minds just as busy as our bodies to achieve our goals.

I think that's what really started the depression...the clothes. I'm 5'10 and bulit in the way that I can hide weight. So what I lose 20lbs I'm still in the same clothes. I am telling myself...I'm just swollen from the surgey...how long will that work..its just so hard

i agree with Lissa. i had the infamous 3 weeks stall, too. i tend to lose great for 2 weeks then stall for a week. our bodies have to adjust and it takes time. you've had great weight loss so far! hang in there and stay strong!

I know exactly where you are, mentally and physically. You're doing it right, I promise. You just need to be patient, which is SO HARD, I know!! Keep your head up. You are on the right path. :)

If you are anything like me, it took 50 pounds to really notice a difference. I just a got down to an 18 from a 22, and it was during a 3 WEEK STALL. No weight loss what so ever. But my pants fell off. Give it time. I went from 275 to 222 between pre-op diet and the last 7 weeks. You will see everything in your face and neck usually first. We didn't gain all of this weight in a month.. We sure aren't gonna lose it that fast.

I also was sleeved May 29. I also lost 23 lbs in two weeks and now have lost nothing all week. I'm right with you! It's very frustrating but the truth is our body needs time. I can see loss in my face and neck and that's all. I hide my weight very well, but as long as I can see some progress I'm happy.

We've all been there, I was banging my head trying to figure out how you not lose weight on 400 calories a day and going to the gym. When I finally got my Protein up, I started dropping weight like crazy. I was sleeved on 3/2 and I don't lose anything 1-1/2 weeks a month, but on the other days I drop 1-3 pounds a day. It makes no sense, but on average I have lost 15.8 pounds per month, which is a okay by me!

Wow. It seems all of us 29'ers are in the same boat. I'm glad I have someone to relate to and know that I'm not the only one going through these times.

I was sleeved on 5/22 and have been on a stall for almost 3 weeks! I was 211 at start of 2 week liquid diet, 204 on day of surgery and 191 since then........ The frustration is sitting in, but I sure this is temporary.....

I ditto what Lissa stated! You are not done losing weight, in fact, you have just begun! I can't wait for you to experience putting on your slacks in the AM and by mid afternoon, suddenly, they're baggy! Such an awesome NSV! Hang in there, it will happen over night. ;)

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
