karenb4729 309 Posted June 15, 2012 I hate to bring up such a personal topic.... I had my surgery on June 4th. The weekend prior to my surgery I had to do a bowel prep with magnesium citrate which totally cleaned out my colon. However, since surgery I have not had a bowel movement. When I went to my Dr appt on Monday he said to stay off the narcotics and to try Milk of Magnesia. I have a lot of gas but no movement yet on anything remotely close to a BM. Anyone else in this situation?

mrsnate 55 Posted June 15, 2012 All I can say is stay ahead of the problem! I had one of the worst experienced ever when I was constipated about 2 weeks post op. I'll spare you the details, but Miralax has been a lifesaver for me.
AliveAgain 283 Posted June 15, 2012 Do a search for "constipation" or "bowel movement" using the search bar or the main search page. It been asked and answered many times! Milk of Magnesia, Benefiber, and/or Colace should help - drink plenty of water!
LouiseC 1,031 Posted June 15, 2012 I always turn to pureed kiwifruit when constipated. Works better than any laxative on the market IMO! Sent from my iPad using VST

deb_fox 42 Posted June 27, 2012 I am two weeks post op and never feel the need to have a bowel movement. I use glycerin suppositories every 3-4 days and they make me go within an hour.
