High Calorie/low Fat Drink Recommendations

Recommended Posts

Hey there! I'm often finding myself getting to 7 or 8pm with all my Protein (90-100g) and fat (10g) met, but at around 500 calories for the day. Trying to be more in the 600-700 range. I've been doing a Protein shake but don't really need all the extra Protein (and don't want to cause kidney stones since I'm still capping out at about 50oz of water/liquid a day). I've never been one to drink calories, and don't want to get in the habit...but until I start real food in another week or two, any ideas on drinks that will give me about 100 calories without any fat that aren't awful for me (prefer no more than 5-10 carbs)

I'm 3.5 weeks out

hmm... what about adding just a dab of whip cream to a shake a day? i hate to encourage sugar, but you can always revert back to free cool whip if you want it later. i'm sorta back and forth on this suggestion b/c i think it's good for you to detox off of sugar so...

i'd personally just leave it as is though in all honesty. you are doing wonderfully i think from the sounds of it. you'll progress to the next level soon and have new challenges and new meals to take on. enjoy the ride!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
