MyGastricSleeveLife 180 Posted June 14, 2012 Last night we had a plastic surgeon at my surgeon's support group meeting. He said that most insurance companies will not pay for it. However, sometimes they will if there are medical issues (like yeast infections in the pannus area) associated with the extra skin. I read an article the other day that said that it can actually take 6+ months for skin to rebound after weight loss, so that's another thing to consider too. It might take time for it to change even after getting to your goal weight.
Mr_Worm 129 Posted June 14, 2012 a strict weight training and body toning plan has prevent this issue for me (hired a trainer). Yes its true insurance won't cover the skin removal for cosmetic reasons but may due to medical reasons (I have an insurance license). Don't fear about the skin issue, it can be sorted out. Your new life after weightloss will far out weight it
