sleepz08 2 Posted June 14, 2012 Just wondering, I know that most everyone is counting Protein, carbs, sugars, ect. When counting your carbs, are you counting all carbs taken in or do you only count NET CARBS (carbs - fiber)? Prior to surgery, I did Adkins for a while, successfully, and counted NET CARBS. Just looking to see what others are doing. Thanks
Katie713 423 Posted June 14, 2012 I'm counting net carbs. As a matter of fact I just found my Atkins book and decided to use that to guide me in order to speed up my weight loss which is very slow. I am going to do induction for the next two weeks (under 20 grams) and then move to OWL (under 40 grams) ...that's the plan (for now).
Ms skinniness 3,003 Posted June 14, 2012 I just work at not eating carve. If I do count carbs, then I subtract finer fr that #. Or # of carbs subtracting Fiber = carbs in.
Foxbins 625 Posted June 14, 2012 I counted all carbs just because it was easier. I don't think it really matters as long as you are consistently counting the same.
kcage 33 Posted June 14, 2012 i just try to stay away from too much bread and Pasta. Should i count carbs? Will that help if so please let me know how and what to count!
sleepz08 2 Posted June 14, 2012 kcage- I was in a 4 week stall and very frustrated I was keeping track of my intake of calories, but not really concentrating on the breakdown of them ( Protein, carbs, sugar, fiber). I started keeping my track of each individually (my fitness pal is FANTASTIC), and I have broken the stall with a 6 pound loss this week. I have been just counting all carbs, not figuring the NET carbs. I have a goal of 700 calories( most days I meet that), 44 carbs, 15 fiber, 20 sugar. My fitness pal has been a great tool for me in keeping track of those. Everytime something goes in my mouth, it gets logged on my fitness pal. I have learned I have to be very strict with it, or I will forget to add something. A bite here and a bite there, adds up to calories that can affect your loss. legal loser 77 Posted June 14, 2012 I do net carbs per nutritionist. See what your doctor or NUT says.
GonnaLoseIt 33 Posted June 14, 2012 I only counted carbs til about 5 months post op. Now I just make the right carb decisions and do not care about how many as long as they are whole grain, vegetables, fruits etc. When I did count them I used NET carbs though
