do reverse crunches. you raise your legs and pull them to your chest instead of lifting your upper body.

BlaqBeary,

I want to get a Panniculectomy myself. May I ask where in California you are? What surgeon you will be using and if you got insurance to cover it?

I seen much worse than mine, but my flab skirt in not very nice and I've got a bit to go to hit goal.

Hello

Because I am having some back issues and the flapping of the apron is too much when exercising. I'm beginning to walk leaning forward. Before I walked with a straight back, the reason I'm having it early. I know I have not lost all the weight, and of course, I will lose more, but at least the pann will be gone. Its all about how I will work at to keep it tighten after surgery. But at this point, I have the mindset, whatever a girdle or Spanx can't hold in, MY PANN IS GONE. Everyone's situation is different. I've lost close to 100. Also before surgery I had a hanging apron, it just worst and longer since the weight loss.

No matter how much information you search, you will never know what to expect after surgery until you are there.

I'm in So Calif. I have Kaiser insurance and yes the hospital is paying for it (Panniculectomy). My VSG was outsourced from Kaiser to Pacific Bariatric in San Diego and Kaiser paid for it. It was a total of 68,000. There was no way I good have paid for VSG. Thank God for my good job and medical insurance.

When I used to work out with a trainer, the plank (and all its variations) were his #1 exercise to strengthen the upper and lower abs. Another great one is the reverse crunch someone else listed.

The one I could feel it the most in my lower abs was to lay on a work out bench, put an exercise ball between my feet (the large one you could sit on - you are going to have to squeeze it with your feet to hold the ball still). Slowly raise the ball to as high as you can comfortably raise it while doing a slow count to five. Hold it there while slowly counting to ten (five to start). Slowly lower the ball back while counting to five. Repeat. If you don't have a bench - you can do it on the floor, but the bench is more effective (I think).

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
