Long story, short - I was scheduled for surgery (lap-band) on Jan of 05 with a Dr. Baker, but turned out the office got insurance clearance incorrectly and I wasn't covered so after I'd done the 2-week pre-op diet that the office told me I had to do, I found out I couldn't have the surgery. I had to buy their product, which was pretty awful. I did cheat and eat Campbell's veg/beef soup...no idea if it would have affected anything. But...now I'm approved for surgery with another doctor and his office does NOT require a pre-op diet! So, I'm not really sure how important it really is?

Call the nutritionist at your doctor's office. Mine let me modify slightly, within strict parameters, as long as I stayed within the calorie, Protein and fat goals. For me, this meant I could have 1 soy product a day (or 3 oz chicken). But, please call your doctor's office. You'll feel so much better going into surgery knowing that you did everything you could to make your surgery go smoothly and that everything you ate was at your doctor's guidance.

You can make it. You won't be hungry once you come out of surgery, and that will be worth this short term misery -- I promise!

I agree with Julie, please, please call your doctor or nutritionist for their advice. We do not know your complete medical background and what is best for you, whereas they do.

The pre-op diet is tough, no one will deny that. You have to keep your mind on the goal and the reward, which will be your band. I weighed myself frequently during my pre-op diet because seeing that scale drop daily was a huge motivation in itself.

Again, please call your doctor or nutritionist and see what they suggest. I felt like I was going to completely lose it about halfway through and called my doctor and he let me have a treat of a broiled chicken breast. Maybe yours will do the same, depending on your situation.

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.
