It is probably the food your eating. You were just sleeved on May 21st? What are you eating? I was sleeved on May 7th and can't hardly eat anything heavy without suffering. I can only eat chicken or fish without pain. Mainly fish is the best thing I can eat that goes down smooth. My sleeve can be very tempormental and if it isn't happy aint nobody happy lol. Good luck with your food choices.

FIsh is about the only meat I can tolerate. chicken and beef seem to just "sit" in my stomach for hours.

I did boil an egg today and mashed it with ff mayo and was able to tolerate that.

I am 4 weeks post-op.

Same here. I was sleeves May 7th and fish is my go to food. Everything else is up in the air. My sleeve doesn't like cherries and I'm not happy about that!!

I WAS TOLD NOT TO EAT BEEF BECAUSE IT IS THE HARDEST TO DIGEST. STAY AWAY FROM BEEF AND chicken THEY ARE HEAVY. FISH SHOULD BE BETTER ON YOUR SLEEVE

I was told to eat tender chicken, fish, ground turkey, and ground beef but I am also 5 weeks out. I was told I could eat beef and told chicken was perfect for me. It however is way to early at 3 weeks to eat heavy Protein like chicken or beef. I am glad I love fish and it works great for me. Everything seems to be up in the air lol. What I can eat one day I cannot eat the next. Fish is my constant and faithful.

It is normal to have that type of restriction. It will get better by the time your at 5 weeks but not much. The swelling has to go down so you can get something into your stomach. Just keep sipping for you fluids so you do not add dehydration to the mix.

I definitely shred it because my bites need to be extremely small. I have to make sure it is moist also or I cannot eat it thats why I would rather eat fish.

We are all different. I can keep minced beef down but not fish, with the exception of canned tuna which I mix with cottage cheese. I have not yet tried chicken but plan to this weekend. Mashed potatoes have been firmly rejected. Hummus gave me heartburn as did pureed lentils. Beans have worked. Mashed avocado has been the best meal!

I was sleeved April 16 and I still can not eat hamus, refried Beans, beef, any beans other than green beans, no lentils either. They are all too heavy. chicken is fine if it is dark meat, white meat I can't do. All this and I was sleeved with a 54!!!

At your stage fish and cheese were good. I love and do really well with Mexican fresh cheese and cottage cheese. Yogurt and cream Soups. Creamy chicken is a total go to food for me.

It does get better and I remember feeling like you do now. Hang in there.

Hugs.

Not wanting to get off topic, but your bougie was a 54? Is that what your surgeon does for all his patients? Just curious. I've never heard of someone having that size for their surgery. How much can you eat at a time?

Yup, that is what my surgical report said. A French 54. I struggle to eat between 600 and 700 calories a day. And fluids I am doing exceptional if I can take in 32 oz. a day and that includes Protein Drinks. This is why I am shocked and amazed when I read what others are able to eat and drink and say they have a 32 or 34.

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

Am feeling this right now. My surgery date is 4/1. Sign the consent tomorrow. I feel like I overloaded myself with too much info, too many opinions. Got to the point where I was wondering if I should do this. Then I thought of my reasons for taking this step and that settled my nerves. Still get moments of doubt but am striving forward. Am just going to follow my book from the surgeon. Joined this because I was told by my dietician that I should do this for support

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.

Neat you have a pic of this day! I was sooo happy to get my surgery. It was well worth it! And I'm not even near my goal. I had surgery Dec. 2!
