Sleeved And Single

Recommended Posts

Ok, so i lost my boyfriend May 2011 to cancer, ( i have my own guardian angel). Yes it made me a stronger person in some ways. During the 8 months of his sickness i became very obese instead of just obese. We talked of me having the surgery when he was better. Well he is all better, on a cloud watching over me. I will be 5 weeks post op tomorrow the 14th. I really would like to start going out and about more often, not have a "boyfriend" so to speak, but maybe date, go out with friends. So the typical date is dinner or drinks with friends. Not everyone, hardly anyone knows of my surgery. How do you handle this when you can't drink and only eat a few bites. I don't wanna come across as shy and not wanting to eat, i am nervous and shy enough. Am i over thinking this?

Just start maybe going to a karaoke show or comedy club or something where the focus isn't eating and drinking... Heck, you can nurse a cranberry juice all night!!

And then, when people get caught up in conversation and stuff, they don't pay attention to things like that.. If we are anxious about it... it brings attention to it...

Some kind of activity like bowling, skating, a carnival or something would be great as well.. Getting excercise, entertainment and enjoyment!!

Best wishes and congrats on being sleeved!!

I'm 7 weeks post op and I have been going out with friends and they don't know about my WLS. I have been able to have a glass of wine, and I order a smaller plate or Soup and enjoy the conversation. I eat really slow and know one has said anything. Do a test run by yourself and see how you do. Good luck!

I think you are overthinking it, most people are so busy eating their own meal they probably won't notice at all, and if they ask why you are not eating you can tell them that their conversation and company is so interesting you would rather enjoy them now and take the food home to eat later :)

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.

Neat you have a pic of this day! I was sooo happy to get my surgery. It was well worth it! And I'm not even near my goal. I had surgery Dec. 2!
