My goal is to be obese.

Don’t get me wrong I’m all for being healthy but for me I think being “obese” would be healthy. The reason I think this is because I’ve gone from being categorized “super obese” with a BMI of 56.3 to currently being “severely obese” with a BMI of 37. My goal is be just “obese” which would be a BMI of 30-34 and a weight of 229 lbs. I am 53 years old and only remember being less than 200 pounds once in my adult life; I was on Weight Watchers at the time and stayed at that weight for maybe two weeks. I’ve gained and lost hundreds of pounds during my lifetime. During the spring of 2011, at 370 pounds, my knees hurt so badly from arthritis that I could barely walk. That was my wake up call. I knew if I didn’t do something I’d end up in a wheelchair or be bed bound. I got serious about eating healthy and losing weight. I was doing pretty well on my own when I heard about the gastric sleeve surgery. I did some research, went to a seminar, met with the surgeon, and decided this surgery would be a tool to help me achieve my goal of being healthy. Prior to my surgery I’d lost about 50 lbs. on my own. Since the surgery my total now is 124 lost. I had my surgery on Oct. 31, 2012 (yes, it was on Halloween, but it wasn’t too scary). Having the Sleeve surgery was the right choice for me. I feel great, can still eat whatever kinds of food I like (only much smaller portions), and I don’t have high blood pressure anymore. I didn't have any complications from the surgery and have no regrets, even though the first week was hard, it was worth it. I can do so much more physically now and my knees don’t hurt. I have 17 more pounds to go and I’ll be at my goal. I am so excited about getting to be “obese”.

Congrats on your success, but just because yo uhave never been less than obese does not mean you can't do it.

Focus on the positive stuff, new food habits and dealing with issues (at 124 lbs lost sounds like you are doing just that) - but don't be afraid of going past 200 lbs, even if you have to wait and adjust before doing so.

Way to go - you can't imagine yourself past 200, I cant imagine 124 lbs lost!

I just hope we both get to where we need to be, wherever that is!

;)

Hi CJinMI :)

Congrats on your success thus far! You are doing an outstanding job at losing the weight! I was also around the same BMI starting as you. I think my BMI is about a 26 now.

The good thing about goals is they're never set in stone. You can always make up new ones as you go along! So, all the best as you reach your goal - and for any future ones you might decide to make!

I think some of the best goals are the one's made realistically. Then, when you hit that target, make a new one...and on and on and on! Congrats on being "obese" :) 124lbs lost is absolutely awesome! Like others have already said, once you reach that goal, make another. Maybe to be below 220lbs by a certain date? The small goals we make and accomplish are what make us strong enough to keep making goals :)YOU GO GIRL! KEEP IT UP!

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
