I was sleeved on April 9th and had my first glass of wine in months this past Saturday. I added a lot of ice to Water it down & drank it slowly. (probably only had 4oz of wine & 4oz of water) After the first swallow went down I got this very unusual feeling in my stomach. It got very warm & I could feel where the wine was!

It's nice that your doctor is amenable to wine! A lot of the info I've read has said no alcohol for a full year after the procedure, but if your doctor is okay with it, I'm glad for you!

My Dr made me promise that I would not drink any alcohol for a minimum of a year. My understanding is that with your new metabolism alcohol hits you different than it did in the past. i am always amazed though at how different Drs have different requirements.

My doctor advised me not to drink yet also, but I did it anyway. I'm 2 months post surgery & feeling good. If I want to have a glass of wine with my friends once in awhile, I will.

4oz wine + 4oz ice = Great!

I don't enjoy drinking as much as I did pre-sleeve because a) i get a buzz off of a few sips and B) a few sips fill me up and that is wasted calories to me....

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
