Hello Everyone

I am new to this site. I am looking for support that could help me . I think if I had support maybe I could do better in my weight loss. I have been banded for 2 yrs. The first yr I did good I lost 50 lbs than I had slippage for about 6 months and finally had to have my band replaced in May 2006. I am not losing weight like I thought I would. So far from May till now I have only lost 12 lbs. Can someone the me how I should be doing my meals. I have started doing every 2-3 hrs eating something small. I walk for 40 minutes 5 days a week. Do I need more exercise? Someone please help me.:(

So basically you are eating about 6 times per day? That's what I do too. Your exercise sounds good too. Perhaps it's what you're eating. Are you concentrating on getting in good Proteins, veggies and limited complex-carbs? Also, if your body is adjusted to your walking routine you may need to shake things up by adding in some new exercises.

I don't know if this is popular with many other members here, but I always ask, in cases like yours, "are you are avoiding all fat?" Fat in excess, is not good for us, but if you limit fat intake too strictly, the body tries to protect itself from starvation and it can actually impede weight-loss.

I am not saying to slop fat down your throat, but a part of your diet should, IMO, be fat intake.

No, my name in a previous life was not Atkins.< /p>

Good point, I've heard this too. There are healthy fats that can be incorporated into the diet with moderation-such as in natural Peanut Butter. I read about people who have a fat-free diet but can't seem to lose weight-good thinking!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
