Going On A Liquid Boot Camp...

Recommended Posts

Five months out, and really never totally transitioned to solid foods.

I think I am going to take a week or two, do a boot camp, and start making thorough notes on my day to day progression back to solids. I will not be goin gback to clears...just protien shakes and exceptionally runny mushies - with a strong emphasis on low-carb.

Has anyone else done this?

I'm not sure I understand what you are looking for clarification on, you are 5 months out and not eating solids yet? So, how would doing mushies and shakes be any different than what you are doing? Or are you trying to say that you have done solids, but would like a "reset" and so are going back on liquids?

I do occasionally go back and do all liquids for at least 3 days and then just basic stuff like Soups with some veggies in them. It does help me start to move things around. You have lost 90 lbs and that's absolutely fabulous! So proud of you. :)

I also am not clear when you say you have never transistioned to solid foods?

It should have read "wholly transitioned". There was also a brief explanation that I can't do solids consistently...I am not sure why my phone keeps editing my posts!

I do mean go back and start again on a softer level...maybe give my tummy (George) time to do his thing.

ah, gotcha! ;) These new phones are supposed to be smart ...? Stupid autocorrect makes my texts look schizophrenic =). I think my recommendation would be increasingly meaty broths, specifically using (red) meat. If you can lull your stomach into complacentcy by hiding the meat in a very liquid broth, and then slowly make the broths richer and meatier, eventually you could be nibbling on something like very moist crock pot pot roast. Also, organic yogurt is always a good thing, rectifies any imbalances you may have of the good gut critters =)

I've read that the five day boot camp is a way to re-set your sleeve and help if you think it may have stretched, but haven't seen anything about it helping get solids down. Is it that you can't eat certain foods, or anything that's solid?

As long as your healthy........I say whatever you've been doing, since your surgery, is definately working. Ninety pounds since January..... that's amazing!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
