Any Pennsylvania Sleevers?

Recommended Posts

Yeah' date=' I'm close to Milford so WB is a stretch. I doubt I will be going to the support group. I didn't even physically go to the seminar. I just watched the online version. I was so worried about the 6 month diet requirement because all the nutritionists they recommended are close to them. I was thrilled to find one willing to work with me 5 miles away (and can I tell you that finding anything less than 30 miles away is a freaking miracle LOL). Still looking for a psych, but I'm just starting so there's time! We could probably start a NEPA group or thread in the local section of VST, right?[/quote']

I found a psych off of Montage Mountain in Moosic. I can't remember her name, but it's closer in your direction!

Was it Dr. Berger's office? That's where I did my pre-surg psch eval. They are good there.

HI!

I am from NEPA (Hazleton) and just had my 8 mo. follow-up. I am pleased to say I lost a total of 103 lbs. And my blood work was good, also. i am thrilled. I had my surgery at Lehigh Valley Hospital in December. Great experience there.

Hi all! I am new to this site- just started seriously considering VSG a few weeks ago. I live in the Philly suburbs. It looks like my insurance would probably approve Abington or Einstein and both are convenient for me- anyone want to weigh in on pros/cons of either program? Thanks!

Hi and welcome! I had my surgery at the new Einstein Montgomery Hospital. I had excellent care and would recommend it most highly. The surgeons are the same team that operates at Elkins Park Hosp and it is a Bariatric Center of Excellence. My surgeon was Dr. Trang. I have heard good things about Abington's program too. Maybe another forum member will chime in about that. All the best of luck to you in your process. Regardless of where you have your surgery choose your surgeon carefully. Make sure that they have had specific VSG training. There are too many general surgeons out there offering this surgery but they haven't been specifically trained for it. You want the best outcome possible.

I had surgery at temple university. I would suggest going to their support groups to talk with those that had the surgery. They may have greater insight.

I'm getting sleeved out of the same office with Dr Claros's partner Dr El Chaar on the 25th. Actually both surgeons do the surgeries together.

I'm in Allentown as well. Surgery will be 1/15/14. How are you ladies making out?

I am having surgery 1/15 with Boorse. How are you making out?

Hi I am from Philly, I'm scheduled on December 9 at Abington.

Mtairygirl, how did your surgery go?!

My surgery went well. I stayed an extra day in the hospital, my b/p was up. The first three days were rough but after that no pain or vomiting. I am having trouble getting the daily Protein and fluids in, but I understand that's normal. Wishing everyone a Happy New Year and New YOU.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Your so close now! It's gonna be great :) Wishing you a speedy recovery and looking forward to seeing how it goes!

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
