Thank you back, it's a challenge, but the best decision I ever made. Cannot wait to see your transformation, that's one of the best features beside all the health benefits. I have fun with people who haven't seen my in a while not knowing it's me when I say hello.

I'm in pa too. Allentown area. Strange there are tons of replies for other states and very few for pa. Wonder what gives! Hoping for a mid September surgery date. Was told to call tomorrow to find out. Cross your fingers for me.

I'm getting sleeved out of the same office with Dr Claros's partner Dr El Chaar on the 25th. Actually both surgeons do the surgeries together.

I didn't know they do the surgeries together. I never met with Dr El Chaar, but Dr Claros was fantastic. He did a wonderful job, and his staff is excellent as well.

I had to choose a doc and said it really didn't matter. Didn't know anything about either of them! So I went with whomever could get me in sooner. I was told I had to have a primary surgeon but that they assisted each other so both would be there. Dr El Chaar is a cutie. Just got married a few weeks ago. We were all discussing 50 Shade of Gray in the OR when I had my EGD!

I remember the anesthesiologist was hilarious when I went for my egd. It took me forever to have to finally pee before I could go in the room. I forgot they'd need me to so I went before we arrived. He was teasing me about it before knocking me out, saying "it was either you go on your own, or we string you up by your arms, put a bucket underneath you and scare you!" Hahaha, that's about all I remember from that convo, since I was in sleepy town soon after. I got Claros because my work schedule left mondays or thurs as the best appt day for me, and he had the first available appt. El Chaar did my information seminar though, and he was great. Seems very warm, and informative which is a great quality to have. I was sleeved 3/12, and have had 0 problems. You're in excellent hands :)

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Your so close now! It's gonna be great :) Wishing you a speedy recovery and looking forward to seeing how it goes!

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
