grammyto2 8 Posted June 11, 2012 From seminar to surgery how long was your journey? Why was it so short/long? and are you happy it was short/long? Curious!
pebbles99 10 Posted June 11, 2012 If you are paying cash, it could be within days. If you have insurance, it depends on their requirements. I have Oxford. They require 6 months of nutritional counselling. I went to a seminar in early February, and my first of 6 sessions mid February. My last appointment is early July, then they will submit the claim to the insurance, I was told I will hear back from them within 72 hours-but later told within 7 days and my surgery is scheduled for 8/6/12. MyGastricSleeveLife 180 Posted June 11, 2012 I was self-pay, but did have to wait for financing to go through. Even with that, it was just under a month from my initial consultation to my surgery date. Luckily, I was able to get in quickly to get my pre-op tests done & everything. innerme 26 Posted June 11, 2012 I attended the seminar in November, had my 1st appt with the surgeon the beginning of January and am scheduled for my Surgery on June 18th. For me I had to have 6 monthly appts with my primary physician to monitor a supervised diet for my insurance. That is what took so long for me. My 1st appt with my primary was in November and the last was in April. My surgeons insurance coordinator submitted everything the last week of April to the insurance company and I didn't get a approval until towards the end of May. During this time I did make some lifestyle changes that I knew I was going to have to make anyway and decided I rather do it before the surgery and make it easier for myself after the surgery, such as removing all my diet soda's from my diet. This was extremly tough for me as I was totally addicted and had severe headaches from the withdrawals for a couple of weeks. I also started walking to get myself exercising and started really watching my diet. I knew anything I lost prior to the surgery was going to make the surgery that much easier for me and for me personally once I decided this is what I was going to do I didn't see a need to wait until I had the surgery to start making changes. Naturals 23 Posted June 11, 2012 I am self-pay, 3.5 weeks from final decision to date (June 18th) could have been sooner if I could have organized vacation from work sooner.
