I would love to meet with some of you ladies. I am east bay (Brentwood). I'm trying to go to support group in Antioch through Kaiser, but the new year calendar is not approved yet. I just think any support I can get at this point will be helpful. Again I am going through Fremont Kaiser. I have a friend in Brentwood that is also pre-op and going through Kaiser Richmond. I'm sure she would love to come too.

I go tomorrow for my physciatric appointment. I get so nervous with every appointment. I'm afraid they are going to say "you can't have the surgery now". I feel like now that I have made my decision to go for it, I'm going to be let down. Wish me luck!

Hope you all had a nice holiday. It is such a hard time of year to try to loose weight or keep it off.

Take Care,

Drea

Hey Drea!!

I'm a pre-op Kaiser Fremont gal too, but live in Tracy. As it turns out, I'll be going to me first-ever meeting in Antioch next Tuesday (the day actually works for me...yay!), so if you can make it...that'd be fab :)

The Psych had me all wierded out too, but it was just a really chill chit-chat session. I felt silly that I had actually postponed it a couple of times!

I don't have a ton of friends on here as I spend far more time on FB (just joined a couple great groups there), but if you ever want to chit-chat PM me. It'd be great to have a pal going through the same thing and in the somewhat same timeframe.

Hi Drea, have you gotten a surgery date? I'm going through Kaiser Fremont and Dr Chu is my surgeon. Hope to hear from you soon. Good luck to everyone pre-op and post-op.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
