Quick Question About Tattoos

I am 3 weeks away from surgery. Will getting a tattoo now prevent me from getting my sleeve surgery in 3 weeks?

I don't see why? I'm sure your avoiding and will continue to avoid NSAIDS like aspirin and motrin. Otherwise unless it's in your abdominal area, not sure how it would interfere. Good luck!

Talk to your doctor's office before getting it. You don't want to jeopardize the surgery for any reason.

Thanks for responding. I decided against it. I have been wanting one for a while and was out with friends who were getting them done today and was going to get one too, but decided to wait until after surgery. When I looked up the average healing time it was between 3 and. 6 weeks. My surgery date is 2weeks, 4 days away and I didn't want to chance it.

That was probably a good idea. Any healing, even minor, is a stress on the body. You don't want to add to your body's stress right at surgery time. I was thinking of getting one while I'm off work but decided to wait until at least the Fall before doing it. This surgery has taken a lot our of me and I want my new tattoo to heal well also!

So what are you all thinking of getting? I'm thinking of a flower to go around my ankle. In a few of the petals I'll get dates that are significant to me - my wedding date, my daughter's birthdate, and my sleeve date.

Ditto. I really want a cupcake like a skull and crossbones on my shoulderblade, with a whisk and wooden spoon crossed behind, or something like that.

I want this with a 13 at the top (for 13 o'clock, representing that it's finally time for ME) and instead of the clock numbers, I want the final 3 digit number of my weight loss scattered in there...

It's a good thing you are waiting too... who knows where it would have ended up after you've hit your goal!! :) You know, a tattoo on your thigh now may be on your ankle once you hit goal. (JUST KIDDING!!) I plan to get another tattoo when I hit goal - less chance of it moving around on me.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Anyone had the TORe procedure? How did it go? How much weight did you loose?

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Your so close now! It's gonna be great :) Wishing you a speedy recovery and looking forward to seeing how it goes!

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
