Ideas on lap band

Recommended Posts

Does anyone know why the diet after fills? I do 3 days Clear Liquids then mushys, (not that I follow it more than 2 days of the clear)

Anyone know why the Water is such an important part of the plan? Other than skin and the fact that water is good for you.

I was just wondering if sometimes I should get my own program like 2 days liquids and 4 day mushys or something like that. I certainly don't want to mess up the band though.

Any thoughts would be very helpful they are always:confused:

I would imagine it gets the swelling down....flushes out your system. But that's just my theory. I'm clearly, not a dr. but that would be my guess.

It's to get you used to eating with your new restriction. You have to relearn what and how much you can/can't eat.

Good question - my doc said 3 days of liquids after the first fill but only 24 hours after subsequent ones (except an unfill was 3 days too) - i too think its due to the swelling and with the earlier fills probably more so since most are recovering from the surgery too...of course i didn't asky 'why' so next time i will. I always try to stick to what the doc says but have been known tomake my own rules too - stubburn me.

This was one of the topics of discussion at my support group meeting last week. The nurse said the liquid diet was because of the swelling after the fill, which is a natural reaction of our body. They do not want you to get in the vicious cycle of throwing up which will cause more swelling and more problems that could potentially cause you to have to be unfilled.

If you don't want to mess it up, then why defy the doc's orders?

Do what he tells ya, he is doing it for a reason. Don't make up your own rules.

Just my 2 cents.

I've always gone with the theory that it is "better to be safe, than sorry."

I do liquids for 2 days, then mushies for 2 days. Then softer solids for another 2 days. Definitely, you do not want to begin a cycle of PB's and irritation. Also, your stomach tissue will swell whenever an adjustment is made, and depending on the time of your cycle, or if you have any other inflammation in your body, that can be a factor, also.

Better to be safe, than sorry.

Well I did and it worked just fine...sometimes I just like to step out of the box, as long as it's not something to far from the guide lines I usually do fine.......Thanks for the change though

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.
