Back~To~Amy 307 Posted June 9, 2012 I have been in a huge amount of pain unable to stand up straight since they took me off the morphine at the start of day 2. I figured this wa normal amd it would get better. Then I remembered what my discharge nurse said about calling my doctor if my pain level wasn't under a certain level after 45 minutes of taking my pain meds. Therefore, I called them and they were more than happy to call me in something stronger and man oh mam can I tell a difference. I feel so much better. Yeah, I can still feel the area of my source of pain, but instead of a constant and annoying pain level of around 7, my pain level is around a 2. I'm a much happier girl right now. Finally, some relief! Some may ask the reason I chose to post this. It is so you learn from my lesson and don't suffer in pain when there is something out there stronger and/or better equipped to treat your pain. My outlook on this whole process is so much sunnier now that I'm not suffering so much! 1 lil lee reacted to this
3lilrams 37 Posted June 9, 2012 Love your heart....I guarantee the source of pain is the JP drain site....I felt horrible the entire week I had mine in....once the dr. took it out, I was sore, but managable....my dr. explained to me that they suture the tube to your muscles, so when you move, it pulls....how miserable!!! But believe me...its worth it!!!! Hope you feel better!!!!!

It felt like they were pulling mu insides put with it and it hurt like heck, but once it was dome the pain from it subsided pretty quickly. My pain has always been on the left side at the site of the longer incision where they took out the majority of my stomach. All is well now. I'm thankful to have gotten these stronger pain meds. The small amount of pain I have left is tolerable.
Char 7 Posted June 9, 2012 The drain line is really long and could still have been the source of your pain. They place the end of it right under the internal incisions made in your stomach because that's where the most drainage occurs. Freakiest feeling in the world having that tube removed. I couldn't believe how long it took to get to the end of the drain line!
swizzly 901 Posted June 9, 2012 I never really had much pain post-op at all and didn't need morphine or pain-killers at all (can't believe how lucky I was!!), but I did notice a difference for the better after they pulled out the drain. I didn't realise it was bothering me till it was gone!
