Hello everyone. I am a new user, however, I have been reading the posts for a couple of weeks now. I, like some, have went back and forth with whether or not to undergo surgery for weight loss. After a visit to my doctor's office (I avoided him for a whole year), and finding that I was borderline diabetic and had hypertension, along with tipping the scales at 346 pounds, I decided enough was enough. I was sleeved on 4/23/12. Since I started my journey, I have lost 51 pounds :) My goal is 180-190 pounds, given I am 5'11". I am still struggling with my Protein intake and I'm just incorporating semi solid foods into my diet. I realize I needed support from those who have gone through what I have and here I am :) I look forward to reading and sharing in everyone's success stories!!!

Congrats to you, you are doing fantastic! This site has been a godsend for me, it has helped me tremendously. Everyone is so nice and it really helps to hear everyone elses journeys, made me feel better knowing what I was feeling was normal. Welcome too by the way!

Thank you!!! Looking at your stats, you are doing terrific at only four months in! I agree re: this forum being a godsend. The support group meetings are inconvenient for me to get to and are only held once a month. Here, I feel I can get all the support I need, when I need it :)

Welcome sleeved three days ago. I'm still learning to use this site, but it is very addicting; more so than Facebook to me... Lol

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Anyone had the TORe procedure? How did it go? How much weight did you loose?

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
