Tia Noel 56 Posted June 8, 2012 Did anyone just use US dollars instead of getting pesos? A friend of mine just went to visit and said the she didn't exchange her money because a lot of places take dollars.
topgun 63 Posted June 8, 2012 Don't bother exchanging money. Probably more dollars spent in TJ than pesos, anyway, because of the tourist trade.

NJsharon 119 Posted June 8, 2012 Tia, I used dollars all the time when in Tijuana with no problem. Just take a few small bills for tipping (for the bellboy at the hotel) & low denomination notes. They probably wouldn't accept $100 bills. But $1, $5 and $10 no problem.

NJsharon 119 Posted June 8, 2012 Thanks Sharon. And just wondering how did you decide to pay Dr. Kelly? I paid with a cashier's check that we picked up from the bank, for $5500.
Finding Myself 146 Posted June 8, 2012 Tia you've probably told me already but when are you headed to TJ?
cissiesue 119 Posted June 9, 2012 From what I understand from my paperwork from Dr K, is that you can pay with a credit catd but there is a standard 3% fee on top of the rate. I was told they ptefer a cashiers check, but they will certainly work with you to make this possible.
comfortably numb 8 Posted June 9, 2012 Just want to add that if you run out of cash there aren't any atm's that dispense dollars so make sure you carry enough. Otherwise use a credit card which they take in most places. I went to get my teeth whitened and he wouldn't take anything but dollars.
BeautyVGSJourney 99 Posted June 9, 2012 I had surgery with Dr Ponce I asked the driver to take me by a wells fargo ATM, she did and I got dollars there. I definetly agree with Shannon take small bills the ATM game me all $20s and that was hard for tipping.

If you need to break 20's ask the Hotel front desk. They had no problems making change for me.
