Favorable Attention: Do you project the right signals?

Recommended Posts

Do you notice the favorable attention of passing strangers? Do they approach you or hang back?

Funny story as case in point: I was shopping with a friend and walking ahead of her about 10 feet - looking a some random item. She comes running up to me and said "you will NOT believe what just happened!" She said that a youngish couple was walking along and the boyfriend started to check me out - looking me up and down...and started walking in my general direction. The girlfriend was talking the whole time, noticed that he was 'distracted', stopped, stomped her foot, and said 'HEY - Pay attention to me!'. He was jolted out of his haze, turned back to her and they went about their business.

After my friend conveyed this story - I just laughed. I had NO idea....did not see it...I never do. Friends tell me that men check me out all of the time but they never approach. Puzzles me!

Why would they not approach if they are staring? Could I be giving off signals that I'm not available? Not interested? Not approachable? It's not my intention...I'm just blissfully unaware.

Does this happen to you? Any way to change your signals?

Nope - I'm completely invisible. I expect I will be for another 40 pounds or so. But that's OK, I'm not available so it's not at all important to me! LOL

Hi T! I believe a large portion of favorable attention has do with confidence... my experience is that I'm not "hiding" behind BIG clothes any longer. For the 1st time in my life, I feel comfortable with my body (even though I'm 45 lbs or so from goal).... and, I'm certainly more willing to look people in the eye.

What happened to you will be a memory no one can ever take away, we all hope to one day "stop traffic" or something similar! It's nice to be noticed!

WTG on the weight loss!! And, congratulations on your up-coming 1 year bandiversary!!

I'm taken too - but.......I do notice guys checking me out when I am driving the car -- I guess with most of my 'fat' lower than the window they don't see all of me lol -- but they flirt as they drive by - I honestly think it has something to do with our own self-esteem - esp after I get a great new haircut and feel pretty - I notice guys looking at me more - so maybe it has to do with that - feeling good about yourself?!

Try wearing pheromones (comes in perfumes, body sprays, etc.) All the major department stores carry their own pheromone cologne, but mine's much more affordable - plug plug plug. Then again, people are attracted to pretty things. I can't see your pic very well, but you look like a pretty thing.

And this: "a large portion of favorable attention has do with confidence."

I'll walk straight up to a yummy guy and tell him how hot I am, and he'll believe me and buy me a drink because it's all in your attitude. But then my husband yanks me away and ruins all the fun. Party pooper.

*LOL* Lisa - that's terrific! Don't you just hate it when significant others get in the way of partying!!! I do not know if I have the collective grace to march up to anyone and say that I am hot.....more power to you!!!

Here's a pic from a wedding this past weekend....same one that I have for the small image.

I don't really have alot of self esteem or confidence..My momfriends tell me all the time guys are checking me out..I obviously don't know what i am doing..LOL..I am not the kinda person who will walk up to someone and say "hey..You look good, can we talk?"..LOL..I just starting dating this really great guy so the attention from other guys is good but i don't need to pay attention that well right now...

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
