1+ Years Out Excess Weight Loss Percentage Lost

Recommended Posts

I was going over info from my Education Class and was calculating what my 60% EWL will be. Yeah, very discouraging. For those of you 1 or more years out, i was wondering what percentage you're at now? Did you meet or exceed the 60% or have you not met it or gained it back? Thank you :)

Dont get discouraged! Its up to you how much you lose! That is the "average" amount, some lose a lot more and some lose less. WHo wants to be average right? As long as you stay on the path of eating right, exercising, there is no limit. :-) good luck.

92% here. Started out 375 plus - I refused to step on the scale for the last few months so I imagine it was more as my clothes were getting real, real tight. I now weight 204. This figure is based on a target weight of 190 - which is the top end of my BMI.

185 pounds should of been lost, 171 pounds actually lost 171/185 = 92.4

I will never bust through the 200 pound mark unless I take drastic steps in my diet. I already work out 4 to 6 hours a week and eat very little. I LOOK like I weigh less, I've always been blessed that way but it would be nice to dip below 200 for once in my adult life.

I lost all that I was supposed to plus 12 lbs extra. I'm out 3 years now and feel fantastic. Still have tons of restriction but definately can eat more now over a 30 minute sitting. I am up and down between 10 lbs and love it. . . good luck, and like fluffylibra said, don't get discouraged, we all loose at different paces. . . remember slow and steady wins the race!

I am also 10 months out, sitting at 87%. I am not done losing though. It has slowed the last two months but I have been to relaxed with carbs. I am going to tighten back up on that and see if I cant get this last 13 pounds off!

I am 17 months post-op, lost 100% of excess weight plus 23 lbs more. I'm 5'8" and a size 6! I still can't believe it--

It gets harder in the later months as you start to crave more variety in your foods, but stick to Protein first and limit the junk food and you'll get there!

I am nearly two years out... for my surgeon's goal weight I have lost 88% with a 10-14lbs to go to goal. For my personal goal weight I have lost 74% with a 24-28lb left to go. Not too shabby...lol! But I haven't finished yet! I am determined to get to at least my surgeon's goal one way or another...lol. Like rootman, I don't 'look' my weight, or so I have been told!

Like most others, I have a bounce range that I am happy with.

Good luck with your sleeve journey =]

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
