Wendys/McDonald's/bk/taco bell. What are some low sugar or sf drini options other than Water? Anyone find a place with frozen drinks that arernt obnoxious in sugar? Id love a mango smoothie from McDonald's, but forget that sugar content! No way Jose! (tried making it at home, but can't seem to get that slushy icee consistancy)

i dont know about any of the above places you mentioned, but just about anything at starbucks you can get sugar free, as well as 7-11 has a sugar free slurpee now. Dunno how good they are though.

Do you like watermelon? One of my favorite things to drink it a watermelon slushy. Take watermelon, ice cubes, a little lime juice and some Truvia and blend it up. Tweak the amounts of each ingredient depending on your taste.

If I do fast food, I always buy bottled Water. I carry Mio drops in my car to flavor them. It's kind of funny, now that I'm losing weight, I'm carrying around my own mini-kitchen in the car. It has mio drops, Protein Bars, spoons, napkins, tuna lunch kits... I could probably survive for a week with what's in the car. During the cooler months, I carry a couple of extra bottles of water, too, but I don't like to do that now that it's getting warmer. I should just install a mini-fridge in the back of my car! :)

Aren't slurpees carbonated drinks? If not I would get one everyday if I can find a place that has them. I have a sno cone machine and love the sf hawaiian punch Syrup available at Walmarts. Umm I am also addicted to sonic ice. I get a bag and munch on it for days It is good with crystal light and just plain Water. (imagine that?? LOL)

I was just going to suggest lemon juice and splenda but someone had the same great idea. I pack Instant decafe Iced tea crystals too. With the splenda and lemon it is quite tasty.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
