Congrats on your loss so far!! As far as slowing it down goes, I really think it depends on how much you have to lose. I know a lot of people on here who lose more than 2 lbs a week for the first 3-6 months after surgery. I know for non-WLS people the goal is usually 2 lbs a week, but I haven't heard a limit like that before this with WLS patients, especially at the beginning. It kind of seems odd to purposely try to slow it down as long as you don't have a medical issue with losing. The only thing I can think of to slow it would be increasing your intake and/or decreasing your exercise, but again it seems odd to me at this point in the process.

It very often slows on it own and it is normal to stall now and again. Somebody once said that many new sleevers can fart and lose weight. I remembered that because it's often true and funny.

I was a steady loss up until 3 months (58 pounds) when I went in for a follow-up. The surgeon said: "You will stall." Sure enough I didn't lose another pound for 3 weeks. I think he jinxed me.

Anyway, the stall broke and so far since Monday I have lost 3 pounds. It doesn't seem as easy as it once was. I had to really kick up the exercise and not eat more that 40 grams of carbs a day.

If you are follow the diet they set for you, do not change a thing. You are doing GREAT!!!!

Congrats! As long as you keep up your Protein, liquids, Vitamins, and low impact exercise you should be fine. Your weightloss will go fast, slow, and stall occasionally. Follow dr.s orders and continue to eat smart. Best of luck!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
