Did your surgeon or a Dr put you on anything for acid reflux or heartburn after surgery?

Nope. I didn't get it till today. If I still have it tomorrow I'll call and ask for something.

I highly recommend the Prevacid Solutab. They dissolve easily in your tummy. Works WONDERS. I have acid reflux daily. Mostly at night when I lay in bed. Not good. Be sure to ask for something or at very least, keep a bottle of Pepto in the house.

I'm on 30grams of Protein shakes and 64fl oz everyday for 2 weeks. Haven't managed any of it yet! LOL! Have gotten about 24fl oz down so far, which includes about a 3rd of my shake, today.

Doc actually specifically said NO gatorade/g2 stuff! I don't know why, didn't think to ask. Hmmmm.

Anyway, that's it for me for 2 weeks, then I can start progressing w/yogurts, applesauce, etc.

I have to read my paperwork again b/c I can't remember much of it.

Is Prevacid over the counter or does he need to prescribe it?

I wasnt allowed my Protein shakes for two weeks. I had Water, gatorade (electrolytes saved my life energy wise), any Soup broth, sugar free Jello, sugar free popsicles. Basically they told me any clear liquids! I watered down my gatorade but it was seriously what gave me any energy and made me feel I could make it through the day.

THAT is the STRICTEST post-op diet I have heard. Yuck!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
