Thank you to everyone that gave well wishes, prays, and hands to hold during the time of concern and upset. After reworking some numbers and getting to the bottom of things, we were able to get coverage for $15,000! That only leaves $3k out of pocket which is perfect! It's very low monthly payment, too. I was surprised. And it's only for 4 years! Pretty awesome.

I am so stoked it's not even funny! My consultation next Monday will go on and within the next 60 days I will have my surgery. OMG IS THIS HAPPENING?!!?!

You guys are so awesome and supportive here. I absolutely LOVE this forum! I have made so many awesome friends and I can come here and ask my dorky questions and no one looks at me funny and also I can ask for support during a confusing or upsetting time and everyone jumps on the boat. It's so awesome and I hope I can provide the same back for everyone else.

You guys rock!

Oh my gosh it DOES feel so great. That burden is lifted and I just feel so much better when I don't have to think about the money aspect so now I can think about the normal aspect!

Awesome!! Congrats!! I was self-pay too & it was frustrating figuring it all out. Our credit isn't great, so our fees are higher, but still workable for us. Good luck with the rest of your journey!!

Yes, I actually ended up doing some of it through CareCredit, some through MedLoanFinance, and some through eFinancingSolutions. The MedLoanFinance and eFinancingSolutions both have high fees in addition to finance charges, so in the end we're actually going to end up paying about $25,000 if we take the full 4 years to pay it all off even though my surgery was $15,100. However, we really didn't have another choice at this time, so we decided it was worth it. The payments are affordable and if our finances improve we can pay them off early to save at least a little bit.

That is so AWESOME, I am so happy for you... At the same time -- I gotta warn you now that it's a go, comes the anxiety of 'omg' what am I getting myself into lol.. but it's all good. hehe.

I'm getting so nervous of the surgery, the endoscopy, catheters, injections, will my liver be small enough.. I guess what I'm saying is now you're gonna start obsessing about the surgery day n night until you get it. lol So, uh welcome to my/our world!

But seriously, I really am thrilled for you, it's gonna be amazing to watch your journey, I know you can do this and be successful - just as I know that come July 2nd I'm gonna Rock the Sleeve.

Personally, I think the obsession continues AFTER surgery too! It pretty much consumes my life right now. That and going to the gym. I know my husbands over hearing about what I ate today, what the scale says, how many miles on the treadmill, lol. I wonder if anyone else further along can let me know if you eventually forget about it or if it consumes you forever?? :)

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
