Am 35 and the heaviest I have ever been at 190 lbs. I hate the feeling of my fat rolls(as when in my bras and sitting it hurts/discomfort). About 8 years ago I was fit and a size 2 and even then only wore comfy clothes. I am doing this surgery for several reasons: 1. Feel comfortable in clothes 2. Not having to buy new clothes all the time as I can't squeeze into my current 3. My weight is contributing to my back pain. 4. Feel confident again (I've never been vain and shy away from attention even when I was a size 2, but dislike the way some people treat me compared to when I was small).

My weight is a hard thing for me as I'm a very successful person with business/home etc except

In regards being in control of my body. I've tried Medications that definately help weight loss but I couldn't function in my business life so I had to discontinue.

Well I can't wait as my surgery is August 2012 in Puerto Vallarta. Can't wait for the new me.

It's interesting that most everyone who posts here their first time gets a lot of supportive replies.

But you didn't.

I wonder why. Do some people consider your current weight of 190 to be too low? Jealous of your previous size 2 size? Maybe neither.

I don't mean to come off rude or anything, I just thought it was interesting. Eh, maybe I'm just seeing something that doesn't exist.

Either way, I'll be the first: welcome aboard, and keep us updated on your progress!

I didn't reply because for some reason, I didn't see it until now. It's true, your starting weight is not much higher than a goal weight that I would see as acceptable! That said, if a person starts at a size 2, then 190 pounds would feel very horrible. It's like me starting at a 14 and getting up to a 30. It's all relative. I could see why you would want this surgery, and I hope it gets you back down to where you feel healthy and happy!

Thank you for the support.

I'd like to say I was only a size 2 for a few years, from childhood to age 25 I was always a big girl 180 lbs often called pork chop legs etc. It's devastating for me as I got a taste of what small feels like and losing it is crushing. I've done terrible things to my body such as the eca stack, topamax etc. I was on topamax for stress and I lost 60 lbs( I also ate low fat and exercised) but the medication I became stupid, i couldn't remember anything on topamax and couldn't function at work. I then had a ton of stress at work and of course food became I comfort. The hardest thing for me is knowing what it feels like to be small but being unable to get back there. I avoid seeing people I haven't seen since I was small as I feel so ashamed of my weight gain.

Ive joined this board to learn a new way of life as my surgery is august 17th and regain my confidence.

Lisa

Hi Lisa ! I can totally relate to you . I started adipex ( phentermine ) at 200 lbs two years ago. Lost 30 pounds in 30 days. So easy , I couldn't believe it ! Well... my blood pressure was high from the medication and I had to stop. Gained back 45 Pounds in two months . I then went back to phentermine and the weight didn't come off quite so easily that time , but I Lost another 30 , and of course gained it back. The same cycle went on for another year and lead me to now being 260 lbs. it is so hard for me to lose weight now. I think losing weight from medication really messes up your system .

Anyway, sorry for the long story ! Just wanted to say welcome and got pretty side tracked :) ! I think it is great that you are doing something more permanent to help yourself now rather than waiting until you are 250+ lbs . pills are NOT the answer ( in most cases, in my opinion ) to permanent weight loss. My surgery date is August 6th 2012. I hope everything goes great in your surgery planning !

Thanks so much sleevealicious.

Yes pills are not the answer. My doc put me on topamax and we discovered the fast weightloss, it killed my appetite I had to remember to eat and I felt very full fast. I didn't constantly eat as my stomach wouldn't allow it. However my mind became very stupid, I couldn't remember words, I looked dumb and that forced to me give it up as I'd find my self somewhere after driving and have no idea how I got there

Welcome aboard!! :)

Also people have to remember not everyone is the same height or bone structure. I'm just 5 ft so my weight issues are a lot on such a short person. ( just saying)

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Your so close now! It's gonna be great :) Wishing you a speedy recovery and looking forward to seeing how it goes!

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

Am feeling this right now. My surgery date is 4/1. Sign the consent tomorrow. I feel like I overloaded myself with too much info, too many opinions. Got to the point where I was wondering if I should do this. Then I thought of my reasons for taking this step and that settled my nerves. Still get moments of doubt but am striving forward. Am just going to follow my book from the surgeon. Joined this because I was told by my dietician that I should do this for support
