im really depressed.

i was banded a year and 4 days ago, i lost around 50lbs, i was starting to put weight on before i got pregnant because my band wasnt tight enough and i could still eat lots,

well i got pregnant in december and now i weigh the same as i did when i had my band op. i am 6 and a half months pregnant but i feel huge, i know the baby weight is probably only a stone but ive put on loads, i feel so bad about this.

i can still eat just about normaly even though ive had two fills,

i just feel like its never going to work for me and im always going to be "FAT"

people say to me, youll lose it when youve had the baby but i dont think i will.

i can still eat too much, i think that even with another fill i will still be able to eat. i think i might have stretched my pouch or something, my band is half full of saline and another chemical that stops the saline dispersing through the band, so i dont lose the tightness, has anyone else gotten pregnant after the band and put their weight loss back on then lost it again?, and has anyone had lots of fills with no real effect?, please give me some advice.

thank you so much,

and congratulations to all those who are losing weight successfully!

X

well dont beat yourself up too much, you are pregnant so you have a legitimate excuse, just know that you are one of the lucky ones becasue after your pregnancy you have an awesome tool with the band to get you right back on track versus a woman who has no band. You will get that weight off in no time, you have done it once before ...you'll be just fine once the baby is born, go and get a nice fill and get back on the band wagon!

Hi Nikki,

First, please try to remember that in three months you will have an amazing tranformation in your life, and for a while you won't have any problem thinking about something other than your weight. I promise!

Second, what Michelle says is right on. While excess poundage can be upsetting, it's a fact of pregnancy and is serving your baby well. Now is not the time to be agonizing over every calorie or trying to lose weight. Of course it's always good to try to make the right nutritional choices, but your body is busy nourishing the new life inside you and it knows what it's doing.

Try to take your mind OFF your body weight, and forget that you have a band for now. It will still be there after you give birth and are ready to go back to losing weight (which should only be AFTER your nursing relationship is well established, if you plan to nurse).

Next year at this time you could have a nice tight fill, sipping some iced tea, watching your baby start to crawl, and be wondering what all your anxiety was about. :)

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
