Recommended Posts

Hey all,

Weird things going on in my throat for weeks now. I have mucas build up, but it's not a PB. Kind of like when you have a bad cold. I am clearing my thraot so much it's sore. This happens all day and at night, I'm not sleeping well.

I have been having a real problem with mucas also. When I do PB, it's almost all mucas, little food. I constantly feel like I have a cold or something.

its because when u have eaten ya tummy becomes blocked and the natural saliva u swallow has no where to pass to so it builds up, and comes back up as it cant pass thro your stomach

If it's sore, my money is on esophagitis. Too swollen, try to eat solids again, agitate the already irritated esophagus til finally, it will close up on you. Please contact your doctor and remain on liquids until he tells you something different.

Thanks Leatha. It is sore. Have you ever had it?

I'm trying, but I can't seem to get a call back. It's the office staff not getting the messages through I think. :-(

Hey Jack!

Thank you for your responses.

I talked to the nurse, who spoke with the doctor. They think I have irritated my pouch and esophagus due to eating too fast and too large. They don't want to do an unfill just yet, as it has 1.5 cc in a 4 cc band. They want me on liquids for 3 days, and if it's still not better, they will have me go to the ER for an unfill.

I have bad asthma, so yes as someone pointed out, the lungs are a concern.

When I went for my fill on Wednesday they were talking about this very issue. They said to drink something warm to break up the mucus and to open the stomach opening. They also said to avoid cold things and dairy products. I guess dairy products build mucus? Sinus drainage can also cause problems.

Hope you get better soon.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
