I'm almost 8 weeks post opt. So today I'm thinking of having a kids meal form Subway. Of course turkey, lettuce and tomatoes. Oh yeah and wheat bread. Will this be ok?

Ok family let me hear your opinion?????

Talk to me!

Skip the bread, eat the turkey, some cheese, and a slice of Tomato. It will still probably make two meals for you! :)

That sounds like a dream. If you can get the bread down then it doesn't sound too bad to me as an occasional meal. My philosophy with all this is not to restrict anything- just limit it. Moderation is key!

Subway makes salads too. That way you won't be tempted by the bread.

Go ahead and try it or it's all you'll think about but the bread is going to make you miserable I promise. I don't even know y people order the wheat bread from subway, u might as well get the good stuff cause their "wheat" is not 100% whole grain.

I think if I remember right the honey oat from subway is better for you than the wheat. I'm almost 8 weeks out too and I'm sure if you did get that meal you wouldnt be able to eat more than a bite of the bread anyway. Because if you eat all your Protein then some veggies you probably only have room for a bite. Some people can't tolerate bread that early. I took a bite of toast once and it didn't bother me. I also tried a couple crackers. Someone told me to try cucumbers in place of crackers. It still gives you a crunch. So when I go to subway they give me a scoup of tuna salad and a few cucumbers slices. It's like a $1 for lunch!!!! I don't even miss the carbs. But I don't deny myself either. If I want it I try it. I have lost 62 lbs since surgery 7 1/2 weeks ago. I think if you eat your protein first you really don't want to much of anything else : )

They also have a flat bread if you want the bread.

I'm almost 5 months out and still skip the bread. I even pull toppings off pizza. Carbs tend to make me stall. Always Protein first.

My thinking is, if I am not sure if this is a good thing to eat then I don't eat it. If you have to think about it, maybe it is not a good option

If you are doing such "planning" of your meals why not buy the stuff fresh, make your own and skip the trip all together- It's cheaper, healthier and you arent getting into the old habit of going for fast food.... you can get good food fast from home...

I couldn't care less about counting carbs or whatever but the bread kills me unless it's pretty dry toasted and no soft center. I keep trying and it just makes me gull after like 3 bites so I skip it because of that. All that said, this a.m. I had an egg, ham, and pepperjack flat bread sandwich from subway for Breakfast. They had a 3" one that I couldn't quite finish and I pulled the top section of the flat bread off. Mine had spinach, tomatoes and a bit of mayo. That was about the right amount for me!

There is a helpful Nutrition Calculator online for Subway that allows you to customize your order and determine the protein/carb/fat counts.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
