Im Starting To Regret My Decision

Recommended Posts

I was sleeved on may 1st. I am down 35lbs which is great. I am not longer pre diabetic, perfect cholesterol, everything great

However I am not feeling great. I am trying to get everything in and I'm not being so successful. I was in the hospital lastnight for dehydration When I got home I fell asleep in my contacts and woke up not being able to open my eyes. I miss another day of work to now find out I have ulcers in both eyes

I can't eat and I cant drink. I had a full blow anxiety attack and then I started to throw up foam. I'm such a mess and feel like I'm not ready for this even though I am beyond ready. I could cry

this is normal trust me it will get better. your stomach is healing an still swollen, your new stomach is trying to adapt to the new anatomy and all of the other body functions are readapting to the new addition to their family per se hehehe. healing requires alot of hydration and since you already cant enough liquids and other things into the stomach the body will try to hydrate itself from inside causing dehydration. just hang in there and try your best, you will love it after 2 to 3 months or maybe less.

Have you talked to your Dr? Are you taking anything for acid? Are any liquids better than others (warm/cold/hot?) I feel for you, I'm sure it will get better as you continue to heal. It's a major change for your body but everything will eventually heal

OMG, you poor thing!! The first month or so can be very rough. I know how hard it can be to get in liquids. My suggestion would be to worry less about food right now and more about liquids. Maybe try to get in two Protein drinks per day, plus Vitamins, and as much Water as you can tolerate. Give your stomach a rest. If you can't tolerate whey Protein, try soy protein. GNC makes one that's pretty good, and believe me, I tried and couldn't handle about a dozen before I found that. A lot of people are severely lactose intolerant after the surgery (including me) and the whey protein can be a real problem. If you're dehydrated, it will effect EVERYTHING!! Weight loss, energy, digestion... it all is impacted by Water.

As for your eyes, all I can do is offer sympathy and hugs.

Just take one day at at time. It's going to get a lot better in the next few weeks.

I am so sorry about all your issues. I am like everyone above, concentrate on your fluids, that is what is causing most of your issues I believe. I know it is hard but sip,sip,sip...all day. I had to force myself and it did work for me. Hang in there, you will get better soon and be loving your sleeve. Hugs to you!

(((hugs))) It WILL get better. I agree that you should concentrate on fluids for now and let the Protein requirement rest until you're better able to tolerate fluids. Try changing the temp of what you're drinking to see if that helps. Also, Decaf unsweet tea goes down the easiest of anything I drink these days, maybe it would work for you?

Have you talked to a therapist? It might help with the mental issues right now. This is a tough journey for many. I had a stinking panic attack while on the exercise bike about a month ago. For some reason the thought crawled into my head that "I won't be able to eat enough to keep myself from starving to death!" That thought would not leave no matter how logically I talked to myself. I finally called my therapist and went in to talk to her. She's not a bariatric therapist, but she helped me deal with that stupidity quickly. Sometimes a little professional intervention is called for, no matter how strong or prepared we may be.

To be 100% honest I felt like complete and utter CRAP for about 8 weeks.

NOTHING felt right going down. Most came right back up.

I had no energy and to top it off I had acne and seat like a farmer,

It DOES GET BETTER!

I promise.

Recovery was something I was not fully aware of. No one can ever describe just what happens or how long it takes.

Just give yourself a break, take it slow and cry when you need to...or throw things when you need to.

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.

Neat you have a pic of this day! I was sooo happy to get my surgery. It was well worth it! And I'm not even near my goal. I had surgery Dec. 2!
