buffalogal 52 Posted June 6, 2012 Hello Everyone, I can't tell you how helpful and hopeful you all are for me. I am waiting for my date, but I do know it will be in July. I keep telling myself that a year from now I'll be a very different person. It's exciting and hard to believe at the same time. I've actually never experienced weight loss, I just always seem to gain. I'm wondering about tracking food after surgery. I have been doing weight watchers for years (obviously to no meaningful end), and I have a hard time thinking about food without thinking points. I'm wondering if anyone still does WW after surgery. Also, it seems it would be wrong to go to meetings with surgery in my background. I'm not sure the leader would be very happy with me. So, if not, what do you do? Thanks to all, you are my lifeline right now. Joan
Foxbins 625 Posted June 6, 2012 WW points won't work for you in the beginning simply because you won't be able to eat enough food. I was below 500 calories a day for almost 3 months. Also, I agree that WW won't be very happy with you as a post-op as you will probably be dropping way more than others who are there. However, I think WW might be helpful once you have lost your weight and are in maintenance. I haven't used them myself, but I know they are there if I need them! I used Sparkpeople.com after I was eating real food. For the first 2 months or so I just counted what was on the label of whatever I ate. Since a 6 oz yogurt lasted for 3 meals, I just divided the calories, Protein, and carbs by 3 and wrote it all down in a little notebook.

Musharooni 62 Posted June 6, 2012 I use MyFitnessPal, too, and it's a godsend. I also have lots of MFP friends from this site whom are all great inspiration & provide tons of encouragement. 1 Iwant2Bthatgirl reacted to this

Bubbaloo10 55 Posted June 6, 2012 I'm also on My Fitness Pal and i highly recommend it. You can track your food, exercise and Water intake every day. They have a database that includes almost any food you can think of and, if it's not in the database, you can enter it yourself and it will be there for others. Try it! Iwant2Bthatgirl 28 Posted June 6, 2012 I have to second (third and fourth?) what other people have said about myfitnesspal. I LOVE it! I just started using it a week ago (on the first day of my pre-op diet) and it is so easy. I often lose track of how many Protein shakes I've had, so it's really helpful to have an easy and customized way to track my intake. It's also great to see what other people are able to eat post-op. I'm looking forward to finding some great ideas through friends there. Feel free to add me, my name on MFP is Bthatgirl Best wishes on this journey!!
