My surgeon said stretching happens over time, but that overeating (even slightly) on a semi-regular basis will do it. My main concern this close to your surgery date would be whether overeating would cause a complication such as a leak.

I think the "I feel awful" part is the reason why we got the sleeve - overeat and we feel bad...ergo, we don't do it. ;)

From what I understand it will take a great number of times to over eat to stretch out our new stomachs....I have been scared of doing the samething. As a man I have been able to eat a little more then I thought I would be able too but I haven't gained any weight

Highly unlikely. The sleeve is made from the least stretchy part of the stomach. It is possible to stretch it out a bit over time, at least theorhetically, but it would be pretty minimal. As swelling goes down from surgery, you will have more and more capacity to eat, but this isn't the same as the stomach stretching.

Many new sleevers over eat at least once or twice when they are still learning the "new way" of life. Be sure to always measure before eating and you won't have to deal with the pain or nausea that can come with overeating.

Lesson learned, I am sure, right? ;)

How long ago were you sleeved ? Have you been over eating ? If so how long ?

Sort didn't see you posted your sleeve date. How did you find out about the stretch ? And what can be done about it ?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
