sirensiren 67 Posted June 5, 2012 Anyone use these types of work outs with success? I keep in mind, we are "special"- we consume 900-1200 calories a day, and perhaps we shouldnt be getting too "hard core"? Or is it a good idea to hit the work outs hard to burn stored fat? I'm personally at the 7 month mark, so I'm essentially "healed" and my energy is level. I work out with trainers now who are aware of my surgery and take it fairly hard (for me), we box and do a lot of heavy weights

Lissa 2,631 Posted June 5, 2012 Pookey, Are you a Larper? I remember seeing some guy who was into that on a reality tv show. It looked like he really enjoyed himself.

M_Johnson 43 Posted June 7, 2012 I am 8 weeks out....cleared for p90, I will be starting that tomorrow and contemplating joining a gym Michelle xo
JennyB 25 Posted June 7, 2012 My hubby and I did P90 for a while about a year before surgery, it's intense and I was only doing modified versions of most of the stuff they did because I physically couldn't do it! I will one day though! 1 Pookeyism reacted to this
Globetrotter 1,340 Posted June 7, 2012 I do Crossfit 3x a week and it is bru-tal, but awesome! The 2nd day after a workout is the most painful, and that's the day I'm doing it again, so I'm continuously sore but in a good way It is SO satisfying to strain and sweat and gasp and feel my muscles burn now, because it is earned authentically, and not felt merely because I stood up from a chair or tried to walk up a flight of stairs =(. At last night's Crossfit I flipped tractor tired end over end, squatted endlessly with a barbell across my shoulders, did cartwheels, did handstands, and even attempted a one-handed handstand. At my heaviest it was a workout just getting strapped into an airplane seat =) 1 Lissa reacted to this

Territravel 217 Posted June 7, 2012 I did Tae Kwon Do in my younger/skinny days. It's an intense workout. I would be concerned about getting punched or kicked in the stomach. If your Doctor clears you for this type of work-out, Go for it!
Globetrotter 1,340 Posted June 8, 2012 heehee Blackberry, you were definitely an inspiration, along with a non-op friend of mine that has lost 50 lbs thus far from a combo of Crossfit & Weight Watchers, she is a Crossfit junkie and enthusiastically updates on Facebook regularly. BeckyR 0 Posted June 8, 2012 I've wanted to try cross fit for several years now but always felt too 'big' to give it a try. How far post op is it ok to do something as intense as cross fit? I'm 3 weeks post op and don't have much energy yet. I'm walking but I think that's about as much as I'm good for right now. When did you start doing more intense workouts? LadyIvy 159 Posted June 8, 2012 I just pray no body gets me in the tummy...I am back into european swordplay, which is MMA of sorts, lol. My family and I just went to our first competitve jousting tournament. It was so much fun. I haven't done swordplay in years, but it was one of the competitive events. I helped some of the guys warm up and wasn't too rusty. I was only about weeks out from surgery and it was a great workout! I would LOVE if their were a troupe closer to home so I could go back to it. Do you compete?
