Anybody See The Movie Fat Head?

Recommended Posts

Just wondering how much of that information is true. I'm enough of a skeptic to believe all the parts in the movie that talked about all the researchers and politicians who had ulterior motives. But something in me tells me the maker of the movie also had an ulterior motive....but that's because I'm such a skeptic. I've also done just enough research in my life to know that for every "fact" you can find on the Internet, you find someone else who contradicts that "fact" with their own counter "facts".

So does anyone here know the "facts"?

I saw the movie. All I took from it was that we shouldn't blame the big corps for gaining weight. no one is forced to say yes to super size. He also tried to discredit the bio Super Size Me. What I took from it: take responsibility for my own weight gain.

I've seen it. Well, he called out Super Size Me (his point about the supposed calorie totals not being possible was very interesting to me). Basically, he kept his calories under 2000 a day and ate at McDonald's every day for 30 days. Plus he exercised. He didn't drink sugary sodas, etc.

I'm a huge believer in the damage that a really high-carb diet can do. So, on that front I believe a lot of what he said. The Gary Taubes books are excellent, and he did mention them.

Just watched it! While Morgan Spurlock may be pushing a vegan agenda, I do think there is a problem with our food industry. Hormones, GMO's, anti-biotics...I am not going to be vegan, but I do like organic meats. McDonald's uses fillers in their meats...Gross. I just like fresh foods. I also wonder if my success with the VSG is also due to the fact that I pretty much ate Protein most of the time. I do eat sugar, but not a lot! I eat chips sometimes, but not a lot! I don't know what is right or wrong, but the paleo diet seems right.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
