Should I get a fill?

Recommended Posts

Hi all! My weight loss has slowed down a lot. I was banded on Feb 28 and lost 40 lbs. Now I have my first fill scheduled for Sept 11 and I have restriction even with no fill. Do I just get a small fill? I have a VG band and my doc does 3 cc's for a first. I dont want to have problems but I also want to get back to loosing these last 50lbs. I admit I can eat more on some days and other days I dont each much at all.

It sounds like you're ready for a fill but maybe not 3 cc's. Since you are not eating much on some days, you might want to start with 1.5 or 2 cc's. Best advice would be to discuss this with your surgeon.

Could you be a little more precise? How much weight did you lose last week compared to the week before? Or last month compared to the month before?

Maybe you should suggest to your doctor that he gives you less than his customary 3 cc's for a first fill.

The first fill is a shot in the dark. After the first fill, a doctor and patient can judge what the next fill should be more accurately.

i have been at 207 for the past few weeks, depending what I eat my weight loss could be a lb a week or 3 weeks, or none at all. The scale is really not moving.

Tell that to the doctor and I suspect he will put in his normal 3 cc's.

The first thing that I did after I decided on getting a Lap-Band was to buy a digital scale. I weight myself everyday at the same time each day (upon rising) and with the same clothing (undershirt, briefs and socks). Weighing yourself at varying times brings in too many variables.

Weighing yourself later in the day also brings in too many variables. food and liquid consumption can throw your actual weight off.

Two glasses of Water weighs a pound. One .5 liter bottle of Water weights (slightly) more than a pound. Two cups of coffee weight about a pound.
