So question. I know there are stalls. I fall into them all the dang time. But why do I lose 4lbs and then stall for 2 weeks. Lose 2lbs and stall for 2 weeks. It's getting frustrating. I can't guarantee that when I lose weight, it's going to continue. And before anyone asks, I work out 5 days a week for an hour, hour and a half, I get all my Protein in daily and I drink all my Water 64oz or more and my calories are around 500-600 which my doc says is fine. I know I'm not doing anything wrong just wondering why this happens. I'm 9 weeks out and down 36lbs.

Some of us go through that...I know I do. I think why I may go through that and someone else doesn't is that we just have different body types. The reason it happens, I'm not sure but I suppose it could be our body takes time to adjust to the changes that are being made. I know when I eat healthy and up my calories to around 800-900 calories, I seem to do better.

Thank you peace queen. I try to get in more calories just physically can't. I think me about to be 40 years old slows me down too. I remember losing all this weight when I was 28 and it was effortless.

I'm 47,,I know what you mean for sure.lol I had a problem getting calories in until I started eating small meals throughout the day..you might give that a try?

I am going through the same thing right now. Been stuck since 5 weeks out. I am almost 7 now. I upped my calories to about 600, bust it in the gym 5 days a week, usually get all my Water in, limit carbs (they don't like me anyways). Stuck. Frustrated as well. Especially when everyone who was sleeved around the time I was is kicking booty and I am having to kick and fight for every pound. I am with you honey.

I agree with your doctor it is fine. Maybe you are a slow loser, I too workout 6 days per week for up to two hours per day and I am "working out hard" high intensity, breathless and burning those calories. I have stalls just like yours, sometimes I lose and gain the same 4 lbs in two weeks. Our bodies is adjusting to wt loss and dosen't like to lose weight. Keep up the fight and keep burning those calories, you will lose it eventually.

The scientific answer to why is because our bodies like to adapt and don't want us to be thin. Our bodies think we are in a famine and are holding on to our precious little fat cells. But keep doing what you are doing and your body will eventally drop the fat. I consider myself a slow loser as well, that's why I would always give up on diets. With our new sleeves, we have the tool necessary to finally reach our goals. Keep up the good work and switch it up sometimes to shock your body.

There are many reasons for stalls, but the hold-slip-hold-slip for most of us is not just fat loss.

Yo udo not just lose fat. It doesnt drop off the minute you jump on the treadmill...it isn't gas. It is fuel, but fuel locked in a complex little warehouse...it has to be accessed, opened, broken down and then utilized and ina more aggressive mode, like the retention we call "starvation mode". It will hold onto as much from that fat cell as it can, reuse everything it can.

Every pound of fat has 7 miles of capilaries. All this stuff has to break down, be used and flushed away. In starvation mode your body is compensating by holding onto what was left in a (kind of) edematous fashion. It holds (some cases better than others - also depends on triggers it recieves) onto the leftovers and Water, and then will releaswe them - thus the actual show of weight loss, even though you could already see it in inches.

There is always the situation that if you know you have a cardiovascular co morbidity or diabeties, have had serious Fluid retention thta the stalls might mean something else - but that is why you should be seeing a PCP regularly during you weight loss.

I am not a doctor, and I pulled this from memoery and not from a website or anything, so don't just take my word on it - and I pushed a very complex concept into a small space...just some FYI.

Did you lose weight quickly and easily before surgery when you tried? I think some folks bodies just resist more than others! Lol sad to say but I think that's true I was lucky but have friends who struggle for every pound lost. You are doing all the right I gs and it will come off. Guess that's not really an answe to your why but .... THIS TOO SHALL PASS,

600! No way! That seems really low to me and probably your body isin starvation mode. Up your calories and yes, change your diet for a few days. For some strange reason it works.

This is a great answer. I would like to add that some genetics are more adapted to being a survivor! If people like us lived in a world where we had to fight for or hunt our own food, we would be the queens! Our bodies are set to be genetic winners in a different culture. I can't seem to lose weight at 600 calories. If my body thinks I am going to starve it, it just shuts down my metabolism like it hit a switch. If I don't stay up near 1000 a day, weight loss just isn't going to happen. I find that Native Americans tend to be VERY good at this feat of conservation. I know there are other nationalities too, but I think that since we are not far off of our hunting and gathering days, we haven't really had the time for adjustment that pure Europeans have (for one example). Hang in there! It will come off and you will be in great shape for it!

When you work out is it just cardio, or do you do strength training as well? weights will help you build muscle which will make you lose fat faster but muscle also weighs more - my advice is when you're in a stall - stop weighing for a week or so and instead take measurements you may still be losing inches just not 'weight'.. and weight can also be Water being held, etc... Lots of women, my wife included hate doing weights, and are afraid they're gonna become a bodybuilder and have the 'ugly' muscles -but that doesn't happen unless you are really trying to become a bodybuilder lol.

I have to say doing the weights has actually toned my body a lot. I see less cellulite which I love. I just hate the stalls. I measure and take pictures as well and can see the change in my shape. Was just curious as to why I lose 4lbs and then stall. Etc. there is no consistent weight loss. I didn't go to the gym got 4 days last week cuz i was busy and that's when I dropped the 4lbs. Lol go to the gym and stall. I refuse to stop going to the gym though and now that the kids are

Out of school and we go to the pool, I add at least 30 minutes of lap swimming and treading Water to the daily routine. Ug I'm just a slow loser which is fine. Less skin sagging and less hair loss I guess. Lol

      Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
      1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

      I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
