June 2012 Sleevers Post Op Check In

Recommended Posts

Thank you. I think I have figured it out now. A little bit about me. As I mentioned, I was sleeved on June 12th. Pre Op I lost 97 pounds on my own. Just killing myself with exercise. It took exactly 12 months to lose that much. I'm feeling kind of depressed after the sleeve. I guess I was just expecting to see a bigger difference by now. I know, Im impatient... But thats just me. A classic over acheiver. I find myself not craving anything but missing the texture of chewing on something. My post op visit is on Monday... I hope to see a big weight loss on the scale! I'm posting a full body pic... Its me the day before the surgery.

Checking in. Sleeved around 4 yesterday. Pain is in check. Walked twice so far. Still not peeing on my own. Hand swelled from IV infiltrated. No hunger! Just want to sleep. I'll post more tonight.

I had the same problem. Could not pee for two days. Once they tried to cath me (they were unsuccessful and went to get another nurse) i immediately started going on my own. Hang in there.

Everyone I have the second part of my post-op so far on my blog if anyone is interested. The synopsis is I am doing really well, but going a little stir crazy!

Here's the link: Officially-On-Losers-Bench-part-2

I am glad to hear how everyone is doing. Please keep posting as each post by those who have been sleeved, will provide inspiration to those wanting to be sleeved in that they will know what to expect!

Sleeved on the 15th with three incisions, very minimal pain actually asked nurse if I had been sleeved. Walking around next day, sleeved friday discharged saturday. No gas pains or drain. Blouted next day. Back driving sunday. Phenomenal experience. No problem drinking, focusing on hydration getting about 50 or so grams of Proteins, taking Flinstones complete, B12, d3 and Biotin.< /p>

Wow, love to hear that people are doing great! There are others that will lose a lot less than 23 pounds in a few weeks. Everyone is different but in the end it evens out. If you don't lose as much so fast, please don't be discouraged.

The one thing people need to do is not compare their success with another's because any pound lost is a success.

Hey all, Mina is right on the money saying this. Everyone's journey in this new life of healthy living at a healthy weight is a very individual journey. My wife has dropped almost 40 pounds so far and she's been sleeved a little over a month now. I'm not sure where I'll be in a month, but I know that whatever weight I drop is what was needed to drop.

Again, take Mina's advice. Don't be discouraged at your weight loss by comparing it to other people's weight loss.

Great job to all who have checked in so far! Keep it up!

Eric

Just read your #2 Journal Dad, the Gas X strips are only like 62 grams. I had to take like 3 or 4 of them to get the same relief from Gas -x extra strength chewable. The gas in my shoulder blades was horrendous and I walked for up to 1-1/2 - 2 hours a day.

Good thing using the med cups. Try to get 3 sips out of each med cup.

I don't know how you concentrate on work. My mind just couldn't concentrate on anything, not even a tv show really. Your weight will come off, I promise you btw.

I love your blog, I think you are doing great and the flowers are adorable and I love your little set up, it's very much like mine in my family room!

Mina you're right on the money with the strips and the strength of them. Right now I am taking two at once. I may go to three later on. Almost all of the pain in my shoulders are gone, thank God!

As far as work, I just have this need to try and keep my mind busy. I can sit here and watch TV mindlessly (and there are times I do that, like with the Texas Ranger on), but I am very creative and being a software engineer, I get to create really cool things. This way I stay active and don't get too bored.

Speaking of work, yeah the flowers were great. I'm in touch with that other side of me to say that is really cool, and cute as well, but that is how the company I work for treats all of it's people.

The one thing I didn't show in a picture was the two laptops I have open on my side of the bed (I'm in between our bed and the wall). I tend to be a geek when it comes to my electronics.

Now what I am missing is the ability to ride my bike!!! I can't wait to get more miles under by belt.

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.

Neat you have a pic of this day! I was sooo happy to get my surgery. It was well worth it! And I'm not even near my goal. I had surgery Dec. 2!
