Ssilian 67 Posted June 5, 2012 I attended the education class today and met with the dietician. Got my blood work done, EKG, chest xray and met with the Dr. One more time before surgery. No pre-op diet. Just Clear Liquids the day befor surgery. He said that he used to do a pre-op diet but he found that most patients didnt follow it. I asked a few more questions that were on my mind and he was impressed with the depth of my knowledge. Of course i credited this forum and the help all of you have given. 10 days to go and.......I'M READY!
LadyIvy 159 Posted June 5, 2012 What a horrible reason to quit doing the pre-op diet (I mean your surgeon). Thats like saying I stopped saying cigarettes are bad for you because people don't quit. I hope the next 10 days go fast for you!
Janedeaux3 70 Posted June 5, 2012 I have my education classes tomorrow! It's becoming so real, been a dream up to this point. I can hardly believe that June is here! It seems like yesterday that we were in March and I had my first visit! My surgeon does require the two week reduced carb diet in order to reduce the size of the liver and decrease need of manipulating and/or injuring it. I have found this forum very useful in answering and raising some questions for me. I have also realized that MD requirements are so varied. You sound confident and prepared and that's what's important. Best of luck to you!!! Ten days...so exciting! I have 20 days to go! I hope you have a smooth surgery and recovery!! I hope the next 10 days go fast for you! Yup, I spoke too soon. I looked up in my paperwork and I was right -- the reason I don't have to do a pre-op diet is because of the amount of weight i need to lose. Sorry to stir up concern!!
