Sleeved 4-24-12 What Were/are You Eating And How Much?

Recommended Posts

Hello all!

I was sleeved on 04-24-12 and I'm curious to know what were/are you eating and how much at Week 6 ? I can eat 4-6 table spoons at the most of soft food and that's 2 times a day, if that. And chicken, I can barely eat 2 tables spoons full. Is this normal? And I can only drink about 20-40 oz of liquid a day :-/

Thank You in advance to your response.

hi! i was sleeved on 04/21.

SO far, I don't think i've had any major problems eating anything except greasy food.

Like butter? I cannot have butter, I feel terrible after butter. And i suspect i ahve problems with banana too..

anyhows, I eat about 3-4 spoonfuls of anything,, including chicken. the amount i eat is not depended on the hardness of the food, which i find it rather strange...

So in general i eat about 3-4 spoonfuls of anythig...

Oh! as for having only 2 meals a day, there is no way i can eat only 2 meals a day, im more of 4-5 meals a day. I get hungry every 2-3 hours, and its quite frustrating sometimes, but on the positive note, at least im not shoving everything down my throat at one time...

:)

As for Fluid wise, i don't really monitor, i just keep drinking all the time!

I don't get hungry at all, but I do eat 6 times a day. I struggle to get all my Protein and Water in everyday. My next support group meeting is next tuesday, I really need to go get some help. I need menus!

I think that amount is fairly typical. I think I was a freak in that sense. I did not have the post op swelling I was hoping for, so my capacity once I got on to blended foods quickly increased to 6 oz. At 6 weeks, I was easily eating six ounces. I'm at 4 months now and can eat 6 or 8 oz of anything non-protein, but when it comes to straight Protein like tuna or chicken- I can get maybe 3 or 4 oz down at once. Sometimes a little more. I think you're right on par.

I think you re on track. Everyone has different restrictions so not everyone will be the same. As long as you are eating Protein first and you know when you are full and know when to stop, you should be ok.

I was sleeved 4/16 and I'm pretty much on par with you. Getting 2 oz of meat down is a real struggle, but I can eat up to 6 oz of mac and cheese or any other soft food. I know some are staying away from Pasta, and I do it only once a week, but it does make a very satisfying meal without feeling that awful lump at the top of my sleeve. I'm gettin my 70 grams of Protein every day and staying under 1000 calories without too much trouble.

This is my exact situation. My understanding is that some people have a stomach that is LONGER than others and can get in just a bit more. I have a long torso so I find that believable. How about you?

I am 6'3" and I can eat 4-5 oz of Protein fish or very moist beef. Grilled chicken has caused me nausea after a single bite, too dry I think so I only eat very moist chicken. I was sleeved on 4-10-12.

I too found chicken too dry after my surgery (I ate b/s breasts only). Now I buy the b/s thighs only. Much more tasty and moist. I do buy the cooked cut up chicken breast pieces from costco though for use in salads, and they seem OK now. I am almost 6 months out. Try the thighs, I think you will like them. I never ate dark meat before surgery. Funny how your taste buds change!

Dark meat chicken actually has good Omega 3s that we need for our brain and it lowers cholesterol. I know it's more expensive, but try for organic too.

I'm starting to think that's the case. I'm not really long or short waisted, but just about between. My doc uses an endoscope for sizing which is about a 34 bougie size, so it must be that my stomach is longer, is all I can figure

I was sleeved on April 9th. It feels like I eat a lot, but I'm only consuming about 600 calories a day. If I eat about 1/4 cup of Beans, I'm done. The other day I ate 3/4 of a thin pork chop with a spoonful of beans & a spoonful of applesauce. That was alot!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
