Well I am a little over a week away until my surgery date. I am 6'4 and weigh 383. My wife had the surgery in December, and is down one hundred pounds. What scares me is the fact that all my 30 years I have been known as big man, big daddy, ect. Now in a week, I'm going to lose the only way of life I've known for ever. Questions like what if I don't like my new self,or can I tolerate the pain afterwards. Reading many of the post on here have calmed some of my concerns. So thank you all in advance for any suggestions or encouraging words.

It's going to be for the best. and lets face it your still going to be 6'4 ...you may still be big man or big daddy.... or buff big man lol ....it'll work itself out, dont worry. Your health is important...you and your wife are going to be healthy and live nice long lives together being more active. The pain wont be bad from what i've heard. Good luck can't wait to see your progress...and congrats to your wife!!

I hear ya Bear. I'm a former college lineman and have always been the big poppa. 6'4 340. I'm having the sleeve done next week. I might look like a bobble head doll but I'm ready to drop some lbs.

We're sleeve twins - mine is on the 13th as well !! I know I've been in the same boat -what if I don't like who I am after the surgery, but by the same token, I'm not a big fan of me being overweight. That's the beauty of this surgery -- you get to basically reinvent yourself and have plenty of options to make you into the you that you want to be.
