SOTC thread...Why NOT to post when your angry

Recommended Posts

You know at first I Kindoff laughed at kathy's first post, thinking she had had a bad day. but ohh now I am offended!!!!!!! All of you that don't want to hear about GOd , GET over it... That is a very big part of my life and If I want to talk about it I will. If you don't like it DONT READ IT! Just as yall all sit and say it offends you when we (christians) say we will pray for you ect.... It offends me when YOU GOD BASH. There is no need for that. You have your opinion, I have mine! The difference is that when we say these things, we say them out of pure concern, you on the other hand are acting like a 2 year old. "I don't want you to be nice to me just tell me like it is about the band" God is everywhere!!! On money, On t.v., radio, ECT.... Get used to it!!!! and get over it.....

unfortunately you are correct. GOD IS PUT EVERYWHERE!

god ???????? what a load of crap no such person or thing even exsists. we all make our own lives our own mistakes our own luck, life is what each individual makes it. we make our our destiny. so NO praying dont work as there aint such a person as god. god didnt make me have a lap band,i did it as my own choice as a human being, not some figment of my imagination. all this crap like i got a band because it was gods choice 4 me 2 have it, thats rubbish !!!!!! this god thing is all brainwashing. we all have our own minds. im going now as this subject is annoying me. bye :phanvan
I believe nothing that cannot be verified by my senses. I made the choice to make my life better. Where was god when I was huffing and puffing through my last mile that I ran last night. I never saw him. ( I also had sweat in my eyes, maybe that was it!)

This thread is getting no where. I understand where the frustration is coming from that started this thread. If you read some of the ones from yesterday you would understand. She is NOT God bashing. You have to understand what was said to understand it. Or maybe you shouldn't read them. They were pretty awful. Ok, the venting is over now. Let's get back to the business of living with the band.

What brought this outburst on? Aren't you a bit angry yourself? And who do you think you are to tell us whether prayer helps us or not.

What brought this outburst on was all the recent exchanges between a select group of people. Am I a bit angry myself?? Duh.... I think my ramblings last night made that petty clear. I was mad as hell. Today, after sleeping on it.. I do feel better. As for your statement "who do you think you are to tell us prayer helps us or not", I dont think you understood my post. I NEVER said prayer doesnt help. It DOES help. I have seen it in action. My complaint is this.. and perhaps I didnt make myself very clear... I am offended by people who, in the middle of a fight that THEY are participating in and contributing to pull out their "I will pray for you" flag and wave it around like they all of the sudden are very concerned about the salvation of the person they are fighting with. I see this everywhere. Even at Church and it just makes me mad. They put God in a nice little cage and then sick Him on people when it benefits them. I have even been guilty of this in my own life in the past. And I have the right to say how I feel about it.

As to your second remark.. Yes I did get the support I was looking for.. Thank you.. there are many very nice people here.. I have learned alot from them and not just about Lap Bands.. but about life too.. What I neglected to convey in my post last night was that my goal is not to "make friends" with names on a computer screen. Anyone who has been on the internet long enough knows that people come and go. It has been my experience that very few lasting relationships are based on people meeting online. Why waste all your energy and anger on someone who may or may not be here tomorrow. This is only my opinion of course... I know there are many people whose lives for various different reasons do revolve around internet friends. If that is what they are comfortable with then I am happy for them. Everyone needs someone in their lives to talk with and feel close to. Based on my own past life experiences I choose NOT to become too attached to people who go away when I turn off the power button on my PC. I did NOT intend to imply that the people on this message board were beneath me or unworthy of my friendship. When I reread my post this morning I can see how I came across that way. Another lesson learned in "why NOT to post while your angry".

Kathy

I am a Christian.

But I believe that God controls nothing but the weather. I believe God gave us free-will. If we have a Lap-Band or are about to get one, it is our decisions which brought us to this point.

If you are an atheist or agnostic, or If you are a Muslim or Jew or Buddhist, etc, or if you are White, Black, Asian, other, or US citizen, British, Mexican, whatever, or male or female or Gay, Liberal, Conservative or libertarian, I will try to help you without putting my religion into it.

My free will is to follow the golden-rule. I will help you as I would want you to help me even if you never help me. I may need help occasionally, but because I am one of the oldest and most senior Lap-Banded members, I tend to offer help much more than I need it.

I fill not offer you political or religious advice when you have a Lap-Band related question, or a question about cars, planes, computers, home repair, finances, legal questions or any other topic that I have worldly knowledge about.

I do not have friends here. I write, during the threads, to a group of fellow members and take them at their word or whatever their writings lead me to believe about them. I would give the person here who PM's against me and calls me names during heated debate on threads, mouth to mouth resuscitation if I met them and they were in danger of dying. Why? Because it is the Christian thing to do. I follow the ways of Jesus by example, not by praising him while acting unchristian.

Nobody here (or anywhere else) should put down another person's god. But when people are put down when they espouse their beliefs about God, it is not their God being put down, it is not God-Bashing, it is someone telling you that you are wrong in the way you are acting or doing things. They may be wrong and you may be right, or vice-versa, but it is not God being put down or bashed, it is you or your ideas. I hope it is your ideas being attacked and not you, but it should never be God and from what I have seen here at other forums, it is very seldom God who is actually attacked. And when it is done, it is out of shortsightedness.

Kathy, I too understood exatcly what it was you were saying when you started this thread last night. I am sorry that people do throw religion or lack of beliefs up at people when they have issues. I also am a Christian and must have missed the bad threads as I was at church with my girls last night. Anyways, with that said....everyone is allowed their own beliefs be it God or whoever or even no one and its okay! Just don't those that do have a significant higher power as we will not slam those who have no one but themselfs.

God spelled backwards is Dog. I'm a DeLarlaist and find it pathetic that fighting has gone so far as to dig up belief systems as ammo.

How can I explain it to you better?? Maybe you misunderstood what I said. Please reread the post. I WOULD NEVER God bash. I love the Lord with all my heart and I take great offense at seeing Him used this way by Christian people. Sometimes even Christians need a little reminder that their behavior could be considered very offensive by Christians and non Christians alike. Im sure my angry post last night came across as very "Un-Christianlike" but it was NOT God bashiing...

I read some of the mud slinging last night and it mad me sad.

Thanks Alexandria for reminding us what LBT is all about--support for everyone struggling to learn to live the best life they can with their band.

Just want to say that I appreciate all the info and all the posts. Without it, I wouldn't know what the heck was going on with my body.

By nature, many who are severely obese are depressed. People vent, tempers flare, but we need to get over it quickly and move on--or we'll be the losers.

From now on, I'm going to take what I need from the board and leave the rest alone! If my posts offend you, PM me and we'll have a good discussion!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
