Hospitalized For 24Hours 4Weeks Post Op

Recommended Posts

Hi everyone; well I have been posting about how I feel sick when I try to eat just like a nauseous feeling and couldn't figure out what it was. I went to the dr on friday and he wanted to admit me but I didn't want to go so I asked him to call something in for me. Saturday morning it was worse so after 7days of only drinking Water and taking in maybe 100calories per day I went to the ER and he admitted me for dehydration. I wasn't happy because I wanted to be home but they did the fluids and meds and im now back home. Im supposed to be on a stage 5 diet but after trying im going to do a 3 or 4 for this week my body simply isn't ready. all in all im in good spirits and glad to be home. Everyone keep up with your water intake its so important

So happy your feeling better. I got dehydrated and now I mix gatorade with Water and drink it constantly. I keep a bottle with me at all times. So far, so good. When I notice my stomach is feeling dry, I get somewhat panicky. I don't want to ever experience dehydration again. ;)

I was threatened with hospitalization Friday. I double my Water and felt better almost instantly. I still haven't gotten to the Drs standard of liquid intake but I'm getting better. It is VERY important to get your liquids in!!!

@Neeve,

I am so happy to hear that you are doing better. I don't know about you but I was having some trouble tolerating my supplements as well. Then I had a bad bout of Constipation. It didn't happen until they told me to do the two Calcium and Multivitamins a day. I am also anemic so there is the Iron. All in all it all led to the dreaded constipation. I too am doing better because I went and bought me some Senokot and boy am I now relieved!!! LOL ;)

I hope you get much much much better soon and keep up the wonderful work.

      I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

      Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
      1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

        All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

      I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
