I am another Dr. Aceves patient. I paid $8750 in march. I picked him because he had performed the sleeve on 4 of my co-workers with great success. It was the best decision. No pain ever, only some nausea the first 2 days. He only does 3 surgeries a day and is constantly checking on you through out the stay. Do not regret a thing.

4500 dr almanza. Never felt more safe or cared for. If you want/need the hospital setting, choose another surgeon. It's not th united states, if it were you'd be paying 20 grand.i had surgery march 23, 2012 and at 8 weeks post op lost 50 lbs and I am looking great. So while some of you are taking 80 years to make your decisions based on he said/she said, I am owning my life! Best wishes!

well the titanium staples are what is used for the gastric sleeve surger, and if u look at alvarez's you tube, johnson & johnson titaniums are what he uses as well as most of the surgeons doing this type of surgery. google dr alvarez and what type of staples he uses and you will fiind Johnson & johnson listed for him...dr a uses the exact same kind...i am not going to argue with you, you obviously think you know all these thing to be true when they aren't

Unfortunately cindi, I ran into a few road bumps bc of my own dumbness....embarrassed to admit I'm a nurse.....I took antibiotic only 2 days worth a couple days before surgery for upper resp that just wouldn't go away then they gave us rocephin during and after surgery and changes us over to cipro by mouth to go home with so I ended up with c-diff and in hosp for a couple days and then again a few weeks later. So I have had a slow/nonexistent start to exercising. On the flip side my. Ds treadmill was delivered Saturday evening :) I'll be starting with 30 min everyday and heading on up to an hour.

Are u talking to me or Finding Myself BC she said Covidien is what is preferred? I say w agree to disagree or do u seriously want to piss the moderator of again? She said to let it drop. Covidien costs about 1500 just for the staples. They are preferred. period

For information purposes, they are all titanium staples. I said that about Dr Alvarez because that's what he told me when we face-timed. (that both of the makes are good but some prefer covidian over j&j) I'm not sure why this is even an issue? we are all in this together! It's not a competition!

Now let's all wish each other the best of luck! :)

I'm not saying this to start an argue ment but I talked to Dr. Alvarez personally and also attended his seminar and he used to use j and j and switched to covidian or however u spell it. Ok great new subject now...

Wow! Its not brain surgery! Spend what you can afford and don't assume your choice is any better than the next persons. Its a little crazy for someone who is preop to paint themselves as an expert. Too funny!
