Hello all! So happy I found you. I was banded on 6/1/06 in Mexico and so far, things are more frustrating than anything. I've been searching for a good support group where we can share funny public PB stories (ok, kidding about that).

Anyway, I'm 34, married with 2 kids and work as a computer tech. Been overweight since 10, tried all the diets (I once went a month with only drinking vinegar/grapefruit juice drinks) and it all worked great! Then I had to get off of it and gained the weight back +10. 307 lbs was my top out and I'm at 273... been at 273, then 235, then 238, then 234, then... for 6 weeks!! I'm so stuck!

I just got my first fill on 8/11/06 and I lost 5 lbs in 2 days then nada, nothing since then. I do yoga with my daughter for exercise. I'm never ever hungry, I have to force myself to eat dinner but that's all I eat.. a small dinner (ie fish and broccoli). WHY am I not losing?? URGH:mad:

Maybe you need to do a more aerobic exercise. Yoga is great, but it doesn't really get your heart rate up to burn calories and fat. You must have at least 20 minutes of continuous exercise (and in that time you are just burning sugar) and anything after that you start to burn fat. Walking outside or on a treadmill, biking (I use a recumbant bike because I have arthritis in my knees so bad), an eliptical machine if you can handle that sort of thing. I was told the way to get the most bang for my buck, so-to-speak, was to drink lots and lots of Water and exercise. The band already helps you with portion size, so the other two things is what you should work on. You should also make sure to get enough Protein. If you don't have enough, you won't loose as much either.

If you don't already, go to FitDay.com and start tracking what you're eating and your exercise and by seeing the picture in front of you, you might be able to figure out what you need to do differently to lose better.

Hope this helps :)

Welcome Kynekke, you've found a great place for info. Have you met with a nutrionist so that you know how much Protein and calories you should have a day. You may not be getting enough of one or the other or both. Our metabolism will shut down if you lack in one or the other or both. You might want to try to track all that you eat to see where you stand. Adjust your diet to add more if your totals seem low or less if they seem high. Then see if you lose.

Good luck and welcome!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
