Don't freak. I am sure your tumbly can handle it - it's tough!! Now if you swallowed the whole thing I'd freak.

You have to talk to your pharmacist and surgeon because I had to either crush mine or take them liquid for 4 weeks.

Why did you freak out?Would you have freaked out before your surgery?? Your mouth, throat, esophagus are all the same pre and post op- it is your stomach that shrunk... Just like pre op that little peice of candy was probably liquid by the time it got to where it needed to go... relax......

I was taking pills (several) from the day after the surgery, no issues. I wouldn't worry. We all get different advice depending on the surgeon and NUT. I did not even have a period of clears, was on pureed from day 3, and softs at 2 weeks. Had my first scrambled egg today! No problems.

I suspect the over cautious approach of some physicians is connected to liability issues and insurance requirements.

My surgeon gave me horsepill PPIs to take. Went down fine, but I stopped taking them. That's another story.
