I am one week post op. I was told by my Doc to wait until 4 weeks out to have citrus but i was wondering if V8 juice is ok or is it also to acidic? Since V8 is vegetable juice not just Tomato I thought it may ok and help me to get in a serving of vegetables. Tell me what you think. I certainly dont wanna irritate my sleeve! Thanks!

Started drinking V8 3 days post op. I felt better after getting some veggies plus it is a liquid. I was taking a PPI so no heartburn with it. I had 8 oz daily for the first 2 weeks.

ditto. V8 is soooo good and good for you. Made me feel not so deprived when I couldn't eat veggies yet.

My dr said V8 is fine, but said to use the regular stuff & not V8 fusion because of the fruits/carbs in it.

I'm about 2 weeks post sleeve and had my first V8 Low Sodium today. It's taken me almost 2 hours to drink 12 oz. I guess it's due to the consistency, but it's annoying. I hope this gets easier, because I love V8 and I drank it fairly regularly pre op, and plan on continuing.

I know this is an old thread, but I wanted to resurrect it because I just had my revision from sleeve to bypass 4 days ago and I'm drinking regular low sodium v8 (not the fusion) and it's been totally fine. Tastes great and it's a super good way to get in veggies when you're not allowed to have them yet. I noticed the consistency of it didn't bother me at all. Just wanted to put this out there, in case anyone else was wondering.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
