If you are ready mentally and have your post op supplies, please try to focus on the future. No sense in stressing yourself out. The procedure is so routine now and if you follow post up care instructions, you should be fine. Think of all the positive things just around the corner. I am a big baby and wad not that nervous. Once they start the IV, your cares go out the wondow.

They give you meds for pain and nausea. I wish you a successful procedure as mine was. One night of pain...just push the putton!

I'm right there with you! Surgery is tomorrow at 7:30am PT. I had to drink magnesium citrate yesterday for a bowel prep and am on Clear liquids with no eating or drinking after midnight. Its funny because two weeks ago I was such a basket case and now, well is more resolved and at peace with my choice. I'm glad that I have taken 4 weeks off work because I feel like I can relax in the healing process because I have a month to get use to the newness of everything before adding in the work stress.

We are going to do great and I can't wait to see what we all look like this time next year.

You can do this!!! Just make sure you have an approved drink at your side all the way to midnight :) If you haven't already, I recommend getting a bunch of different flavors of crystal light single service packets. This way you can switch it up quite a bit! If you're allowed sugar free Jello or popsicles, chew a couple of those throughout the day!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
